Engaging

This was a fun way to close out the fringe! It was funny and held my attention the entire time. There were a few holes that confused me (why the fake pregnancy? why back out of the contract midstream?). I enjoyed this show! Nice work everyone! :)

Company: Laura Dierke Productions
Show: She’s Already Gone
Venue: Augsburg Mainstage

Emotionally charged

This was fantastic! Was it because they were so young? Maybe, but probably not. It was elicited emotion and held attention. The vocal talent was impressive as was the set and stage presence. Nice work!

Company: Comedy Suitcase
Show: Bob and Reggie Go To Bed

Surprising laughter

This was fantastic! The plot kept twisting in directions that couldn't be predicted. The tooth fairy shake down was the funniest thing ever! The random onion? I just loved it. The whole show was great!

Company: DeerChild Puppets
Show: The Marvelous Magpie Moon

Fun Medium!!

I really enjoyed the creative use of the overhead projector. I liked the puppetry and the creative storyline. This was relatable and lovely.

Company: Clucklesworth Productions
Show: MY LOVELY, LOVELY, LOVELY, LOVELY, LOVELY FAMILY
Venue: Bryant Lake Bowl

Fun representation

This was a fun show. It gave a short little snapshot of what ENM structures can look like and addresses some of the challenges that some face due to being in a mono normative culture. I would have liked some explanation about the Jessica character, as she was referenced so frequently.

Company: Ripped Nylons Productions
Show: Endometriosis: the Musical
Venue: Theatre in the Round

Entertaining

This was great on a lot of fronts. The vocals were fantastic and the story was all too relatable. I don't know any female who hasn't been gaslit by a health provider at some point. I enjoyed the choreography and the costumes. This was a fun one.

Company: Wheeler In The Sky
Show: ‘WHOOSH! The Civil War Mythology of Michael Hickey and His Perilous Precipitation Over St. Anthony Falls.’
Venue: CFPA Black Box

Gripping

Brought history to life! Good acting, seen through a social Justice lens, with personal twist. This was engaging.

Best Freeze Frames!

This was so great! Comical, embraces the weird, with great expressions. Thoroughly enjoyed this!

Company: Virginia Twins

Amusing

This was a fun one! I liked how they went for "weird" and if often worked! There was dialogue but not enough. It feels like they should either commit to totally non-verbal or give a little more dialogue in obvious places- like "Who are you?" to a stranger or simply, "What's in your bag?" during the run around bits. The movement was fun. I'm glad I was able to see it!

Company: Killer Whale Collective
Show: Moonwatchers

Good timing and playful

The actors were playful and appeared to be having fun throughout this show. The story lines were clear and, silly, and left you wanting more while also giving you satisfying closure all within an hour. I really enjoyed this.

Company: Your Silent Partner
Show: Help Me Help You Help Yourself

So Goofy

This was beautifully done! The Waldo thing at the end was a pure masterpiece! It truly mimicked the book with the goofy crowns people were wearing from previous acts. I also enjoyed the modern day clown seltzer water: la croix. 😆😆

Company: an alleged Theatre Company
Show: 3 Guys on Stage Who Get Hit with Hot Dogs, Snow Cones, etc.
Venue: CFPA Flex

Had a low bar but was delighted!!!

This was very well done!! I assumed this show would be 3 artsy frat bros throwing food and mimicking jackass stunts but was by delighted to find that it had not only a plot but a well thought out plot, along with creative games and “punishments.” I underestimated you hungry boys.

Company: Shadow Horse Theatre
Show: Dark Pony Radio "An Evening with the Oupire"

Not my cup of tea but good

I’m not a podcast person but had an open time slot and went in blind. I loved the music at the beginning and end. The vocal talent was great. I struggled to focus on the content- but appreciated that it was original.

Company: Hey Rube!
Show: Orzel Rising
Venue: Rarig Center Arena

Quirky and creative!

Great physicality and hilariously creative use of props. Loved the accent work and the ability to bring quirky events in history to life. It was goofy in a way that still made you care about the characters.

Company: LCcreations
Show: I think we are supposed to be 'Coming of Age' by now...
Venue: Augsburg Mainstage

I wanted to play in the fort!!!

This was phenomenal. My only critique is the loudness. Yes, yes, the earplugs. But with them you can’t at all hear the vocalist. So maybe had the band just been instrumental it wouldn’t feel like I was missing out on anything. The dancing was high energy and technical while they looked like they were having the time of their lives up there! Stage presence was great. It was like a cool garage music video that was filmed on a big 90’s camcorder had a bastard love child with the Cowels Center.

Company: The Pilot Dance Project
Show: Aureate
Venue: Augsburg Studio

Happy Place

I adored this. Every last performer appeared to be in their zone, enjoying their art. It showed in their crisp technique and their presence. I’m so glad I fought the lazies and came out for the 10pm show!!!!

Company: Alisa Rosenthal
Show: One-Woman Beaches

Playful and Engaging

Exceeds expectations! High energy and quirky! Well worth it!!

Company: Christopher Kehoe
Show: Jesus Qhrist
Venue: Rarig Center Xperimental

Didn’t expect to like it so much

Two things I don’t really love talking about: Jesus and Trump. So I wasn’t sure I’d like this but I’m thrilled I went!!! It was so engaging, very funny. I loved the awkward transitions and physicality at times.

Company: RMT Movement
Show: Able To _
Venue: Rarig Center Arena

Nice sentiment but pass

This one had some fun choreo but even that was fairly transparent and not very deep. Lots of the content felt like watching a beginner’s improv class- which most fringe goers have all done…

Company: Special When Lit
Show: Finger Lickin' Good
Venue: Rarig Center Thrust

Full circle

Hilarious. Fantastic in all of the ways. The ending wrapped the whole thing up into a perfect closing. Don’t miss this one.

Company: J. Jean Productions
Show: Expiration Date
Venue: HUGE

Adorable

This show was well written and was adorable with lots of thematic parallels! The cast was cute as heck! The “marry my daughter off so she has a chance to be happy like I was” theme is a little outdated and was kind of uncomfortable. I still enjoyed it!

Company: Ava Fojtik
Show: Francis E. Fingerbowl Has Gone Missing

Stamped my Fringe Bingo Card

Am I dumb? I didn't follow this at all. Was this a play about grief? Loss? Debilitating co-dependency? Maybe this is a style I never learned or studied? My criticisms: it felt wayyyyyyy over-acted (mailman), most performers either stumbled their lines or mumbled and I couldn't decipher what they were saying. I didn't hate it.
