A must see perspective of Medusa!

This play has it all: humor, love, drama, and draws attention to a bigger conversation. The creators used a variety of music styles to set the scene as well as convey a message. The use of music this way drew me further into the scene without the need of extra set or actors. Hard to believe this is the first attempt at creating a show for these creators. The ending song had me feeling for empathy that is often over looked how Medusa became the center of fear. Excited for Part 2!

Worthwhile tale of Medusa

This show was better than I expected. Ripley knocked it out of the park with her vocals; she is a powerhouse. Moe was great, too, as Echo. This show could be a musical. Medusa could give Hadestown a run for their money.

To my creative little sister

I thought when I first saw this play, I felt like it was a good rendition on the Greek myth, and it gave me all sorts of emotions. It was an honor to see my little sister do her first play and when I read in the paper, I was rather flattered that I was her inspiration for the play. I can't wait to see how part two plays out.

Ambitious, well-performed retelling of an icon

Definitely a must-see at this festival, very different format than most of the shows. Tells Medusa's story from before the snakes. Fleshes out this Greek myth with comedy, romance, and music ready for a Broadway stage! Highly recommend and can't wait for part 2!

Eagerly waiting for part 2!

What a musical! Love the contemporary vibe of a Greek story of the goddess Medusa. I really enjoyed watching it! Thanks for sharing your theatrical skills with the world!

Somewhat mediocre

I was really excited to see this one, as I am a Greek mythology nerd and all the reviews were *glowing!* Maybe that hype let me down, but I found the show unfortunately mediocre. The characters were pretty 1-dimensional, the script was predictable, and the humor sometimes fell flat. There were 4 songs: a prologue, a goofy love interest song, a frat party style number, and a dramatic ballad- all of which are pretty stereotypical and bland. There weren't any surprises or anything to really allow the show to excel. It is fine, but I hoped for more. I did really appreciate the subtle mythological references (such as Poseiden's horses, the addition of Echo, etc.). I hope that Part 2 does happen and that some more surprises and risks are taken to give it just a little more punch than Part 1 had.

A daring take on mythology

This show was thoroughly engaging and well written, with a host of engaging characters and a story that is somehow funny, amusing and incredibly dark and dramatic at the same time. All of the actors stood out as well as the songs that showcased their singing talent! The actors for Poseidon, Echo and Medusa in particular stood out! Zeus was played as a power drunk (and regular drunk) tyrant philanderer. Athena was mysterious and complicated. Hermes added great levity and humor, as well as empathy for trying to look out for Medusa but being pushed around and belittled. The show perfectly fits the creepy foreboding atmosphere of the theater and stage. I cant wait for the second part! This is a must see.

Decent Enough

This was a retelling of the first portion of Ovid's Medusa- though using the Greek names- and besides the filler love interest plot, really didn't add anything new or a fresh perspective to the story. I think one of the bigger struggles was the portrayal of the gods- Are they powerful forces beholden only to each other, or just like any of us humans? The show leaned towards the latter, and I think suffered for it as it made them too comedic in contrast to what happens to Medusa. I am always impressed by original music, and thought the songs were well done, and well sung- The actor playing Poseidon had a particularly strong voice. Overall, it had some potential but just didn't quite live up to it.
