Cast and Crew
Suraj Malla
Performer, Producer, Co-CreatorSuraj Malla is an actor, director, and acting teacher. He completed his acting training from Actor's Studio Nepal and has been performing with them since 2012. He is three-time participant in the BRM Festival with the National School of Drama in Delhi. He was invited as a Nepali representative for International Prospero Workshop in Denmark, focusing on devised theatre for youth and children. Recently, he participated in an online theatre intensive with SITI Company. Having taught in schools for several years, he has produced and directed a variety of students shows. He has given professional theatre training at different acting institutions around Nepal. He is excited to share his love of theatre around world, as a way to share stories and to know ourselves.
Rose Schwietz Malla
DirectorRose Schwietz Malla is a director, researcher, educator, and theatre-maker/manager from Minnesota. She has worked extensively in Nepal as a theatre-maker and educator, where most recently she was a 2022-2023 US Fulbright Performing Arts Researcher; her research examined and documented a traditional ethnic dance-drama, sati ghatu naach, which led to an original play - Deurali Daandi: The Last Chapter of Ghatu (director, researcher, co-creator). Other Nepal theatre highlights: Three Sisters (director), Constellations (actor), Macbeth Massacre (assistant director, actor), and The Incubator Series (co-producer, guest director, directing mentor). In Minnesota she has directed and performed with Lakeshore Players Theatre, 4 Community Theatre, and VISTA Productions, and she is currently an MFA candidate in Directing at the University of Massachusetts Amherst. Upcoming: Bulrusher (Silverthorne Theater, AD), Polaroid Stories (Holyoke Community College), and Xanadu (UMass Amherst).
Sahalesh
PlaywrightSAHALESH is a Nepali writer. He is a co-founder of Majhuwa Bagar Jana Kala Manch in Nepal. He recently featured as playwright and actor in Antariksha Ko Mitjui, a US Embassy-funded project in collaboration with Book Bus and Quixote Cove. Other recent plays include Saili Barai and Deurali Daandi: The Last Chapter of Ghatu. He is best known for his naturalistic, fresh writing style in Nepali language.
