Energetic, fun blend of cabaret and science

A one-person a cabaret show featuring apex predators is a premise that could either be brilliant or fall completely flat. In Rob Ward's hands, it's absolutely brilliant! He clearly spent a lot of time researching his subject matter, and he gives it an engaging, energetic performance. I didn't know about a lot of the incidents that were referenced in the script, but that didn't take me out of the performance at all.

An absolute blast!

There is no way to adequately describe this show: great costumes, funny, educational, and the list could go on. A horror-comedy with an academic set of sources? Just when you think you have seen it all, it gets even crazier with more man-eaters. Our biggest question is what sort of workout Rob needed to impersonate the crocodile. Very impressive!

What a show!

I loved How to KIll a Horse last year and was thrilled to see Rob was at Fringe again. HE ABSOLUTELY KILLED. I laughed non-stop. This show is a MUST SEE

Animals Tell Their Story

This caberet style play showcases the multiple talents of the performer.. His energy is contagiouus as the audience waits anxiously for the next unfairly villianized animal to perform. This show will tap into all your emotions. A must see!

High energy comedy and education

I'm tempted to comment ironically that poor Rob Ward really needs to get over his shyness :-) This is a high energy one man show that few could accomplish. The comedy, acrobatics, puppetry never lets up. There's barely a pause in the entire act and it's amazing that one man has the stamina and brains to pull it off. Kudos for the real education about dangerous animals and our relationships with them. The act ends with some common sense advice for those relationships and interactions. Rob also includes a paper hand-out with citations of source material for those interested. Really well done.

So much energy!

Rob sang, danced, crawled, and portrayed so many creatures in this hour. I was entertained. This program had a bibliography and added a documentary to my video watch list.

High Octane Tour De Force

This show was a wonderful way for Rob, who is possibly the hardest working actor in the Fringe this year, to showcase all of his many talents. It's a high energy one-man show with plenty of laughs and clever staging throughout.

Ever wanted to see some of the most famous predators sing a musical number? Look no further! The emcee's were so funny, and I loved all the different spoofs on popular songs (Weird Al style) that made up the cabaret. Welcome to the Food Chain was a fun (and serious) reminder to not be stupid around wild animals.

Rob is a Legend

I haven't laughed that much, and with such consistency, at a live performance in a very long time!

Hilarious

What a fun show! It's so funny, it would be easy to miss the actor's many talents. I guess that's why it is so good.

Don't you monkey with the monkey.

From the moment I heard Daryl Hall and John Oates' "Maneater" in the preshow mix, I knew I was in for a treat. Rob explodes off the stage from the get-go in this chewy musical comedy. I wasn't sure what to expect, but when a crocodile began crooning and cavorting to the Brothers Gibb, I was hooked. As a former Alaskan, I appreciated the nod to Grizzly Man, and the show's concept was peppered with interesting and cautionary facts about how to better regard our fellow mammals. This Ranger Rick subscriber (of years gone by) highly approves.

Wow

The variety of acting skills is amazing. Rob does it all. The information is fascinating and the use of a variety of music so fun. Don't tease or tempt the animals. They will eat you.

Wild and very very energetic

Rob Ward is Still a Maniac

Although I'm a little concerned he might one day pass out on stage, he continues to throw it all out there at a frenetic and entertaining pace for his audience and pass on some pretty fascinating stories too. Your will never see another show like a Rob Ward show

I'm Tired Watching This

Rob Ward's energy level is the stuff of legends, to be sure, but this is something else. There's no pause, no rest, just frenzied performance. Like a wild beast chasing down its prey and gnawing at it with ferocity, Ward matches his characters' ravenous energy. In addition, he somehow squeezes in a dose of conservationism and anti-racism that deftly avoids preachy-ness. Godspeed in Edmonton - Canada deserves to be assaulted with your energy, Rob!

A Wild Ride (pun intended)

Wow. This was a wild time. That's all I can say. Rob's vivacious energy entertained me. Also, the crocodile was probably my favorite part - great physicality. Great show!

Darkly Humorous

As he says in the beginning, this show is not for the squeamish or faint of heart. It's a darkly humorous exploration of when humans mess with wild animals, presented as a high-energy solo cabaret by a very multi-talented performer

A macabre tour de force!

Rob has boundless energy and is not afraid to push the envelope. This is not for kiddies - despite the Suessian poetry and puppet work - and not for the faint of heart. But if you can stomach it, it's great fun! Fans of last years' How To Kill A Horse will love this. He Sings - He Dances - He eats people!!
