Daniel Rangel
Playwright / "John Glorious"Daniel Rangel (he/they, Playwright / John Glorious) is a Minneapolis-based playwright, actor, director, and applied theatre artist whose work blends mystery, comedy, and emotional honesty. His stories explore the places where humor, grief, and competing versions of the truth collide. Portraying patients, witnesses, clients, and suspects while helping train doctors, lawyers, nurses, social workers, and first responders reinforced Daniel’s belief that every character is the hero of their own story. That philosophy lies at the heart of his writing, where conflicting memories, competing versions of the truth, and unexpected laughter invite audiences to see themselves—and each other—with greater empathy. Daniel began his formal acting training at the American Academy of Dramatic Arts at age seventeen. Following a waitlist invitation from Juilliard, he continued his studies with faculty from the Moscow Art Theatre at the University of Illinois Chicago before being cast by acclaimed playwright and director Luis Valdez in one of his later productions at the San Diego Repertory Theatre. He has since created work across stage, film, network television, and immersive performance, and is thrilled to portray the irrepressible John Glorious in The Queerest Midwest Bakeoff – A Murder Mystery.
