Genuine Look at Family Life

I grew up an only child and this really brought back that deep desire in me to have siblings. The one that knows I missed out. It was so sweet and real, I felt each of these characters completely and complexly. The only thing I want is to make sure y'all are LOUD ENOUGH. This story deserves to be heard and there were a fair few moments where the volume dropped too low for me to fully contextualize what was happening. Especially in some of the more quiet, close, intimate moments, like the two sisters reconciling or the mom and daughter on the couch together. Seriously though, this writing and ACTING MY GOD THE ACTING, it deserves to be applauded. Roobie was my favorite character, and the growth all the characters go through?? Incredible. The nail polish scene between the brothers was by far my favorite and will be a standout for my from this whole festival. Thank you all so much for your hard work and dedication. I know y'alls future is full of beautiful things.

Show: OPERA PUNKS
Venue: The Southern Theatre

So much fun!!!

We were meant to be seeing something else but ran out of time to walk back to the other theatre. I was VERY impressed with the talent of these singers, and their willingness to jump into silly. Standout moments from the show we saw were everyone gathered around the dying polar bear and harmonizing. It was honestly a moment you couldn't believe was improvised. Then mentioning coca-cola??? Icing on the poor dying frosty bear's cake.

Incredible Opportunity for Growth Ahead!

If this is what you're starting from, then Gabriel Shen has a very bright future. The acting left a lot to be desired, though there were some decent moments it wasn't consistent. I definitely expected more from the topic at hand, but was greeted with a much cheerier look at things in a very camp musical style. My favorite scene was when the main character witnesses her own funeral, I think that bit hit closer to home for the tone I thought we'd see. Still very impressive overall, especially the number of individuals in the pit really killed it.

Taken on a journey through time

Loved this!!! My favorite moment was the duet with the two girls. Their voices blended so beautifully and I love this style of story telling. The costumes were also a stand out for me (shout out to that GORGEOUS wedding dress at the end.) Also I felt this was exceptionally well staged especially for how unique the space is. The big battle scene was so cool too. Really really enjoyed this.

Company: Timothy Mooney Repertory Theatre
Show: Breakneck Twelfth Night
Venue: Barbara Barker Center for Dance

Impressive! Would work well as a video essay.

I could've used something like this instead of a 'No Fear Shakespeare' when I was in high school. I did lose track a little bit of what was going on in a few places, but that was fine cause it's the nature of 'What You Will'.

Company: Cora Casper
Show: INSOMNIA DOGS

Really REAL characters!!

I really loved how defined each character was in this. My only qualm is I didn't quite figure out what the resolution was meant to be. It was like I wanted a little bit more to help me figure out where we were going. The acting was phenomenal, the staging, props, the little video (couldn't read it), and puppetry were all delightful!!

Thank you for the good things <3

The opening act surprised me with how much joy I felt. LOVED IT! Emily's songs are so wonderfully emotional, so so happy to hear her sing solo like that. I was so glad to go on the journey with her. ALSO KENDRA!! The opening monologue about being a passionate Fringe goer who wound up a producer is such a testament to how much you love the Fringe. It was so inspiring as a first year fringe goer and producer myself. Thank you for sharing that story, and for giving the stage to some wonderful acts.

Great Twist! Also, I love the gays!!

This was so fantastic. So intimate and personal. I love you guys so much. Thank you so much for bringing us into this world, a place where so many queer people have lived. How different the idea of a thing is from reality. How poignant this composition was!! The star backdrop was so cute. Every little detail was so well thought out and the ACTING!!! Superb. Pemma reminds me so much of Bill from Doctor Who <3

Nerds doing Nerd Stuff is the best!!!

I'm not really a comedy person, but I am a nerd. I am ALSO a Shakespeare nerd. This was so sooooo much fun. So many good references. Something is GOLDEN in the state of Deathstark. Inspired me to want to do my own fun nerd stuff.

Real and Moving. Really Moving. BUT ALSO FUNNY

I loved it. Great composition. Great performances by all involved (including the impromptu dog <3). So glad this was my first show of the Fringe Festival, and so cathartic to hear the whole audience being affected and grieving along with Kate. So thank you to all involved, for sharing that with us.
