Outstanding chemistry and talent!
Some of the twin cities hottest improvisers are apparently also some of the best singers too! Catchy melodies and intriguing storylines created right off the dome- Opera Punks is one of the best improv shows I’ve ever seen. Special shoutout to the incredible musician driving the show along- don’t miss!
Amazing!
This was a fun last minute show! Must see!
Wonderful improv
Every word is sung. Every word is improvised. Glorious.
Opera Punks is a must-see
I am always impressed by improvisers bc I can’t imagine having the confidence to be on stage and trust whatever might come out of my mouth. But these talented people also sing! This was one of the most fun I’ve had watching improv. Natural chemistry, gorgeous voices, and impressive brains. I was genuinely gut laughing for most of the show.
chemistry, charm, SKILL!!!
This group has something special. Everyone brought a different flavor, and together they create hilarious musical magic. I was delighted by the variety of genres and how deftly the performers played off each other. A glorious hour of entertainment!
A Kiss from Jupiter
Part of the fun of writing a review for the Opera Punks is that I can give it a title that nobody outside of the 8/4 performance will understand even a little bit. This show must truly be seen to be believed - raw talent and incredible chemistry combine to create the most hysterical form of improvised musical storytelling that I’ve ever seen. Special shoutout to Kelly for creating a vibrant musical ecosystem for the performers to explore, with no genre left off the table. Seriously, go see it.
Must See Show
Incredible cast. They seamlessly blend they style of music into the improv. This needs to be on your list of shows to see. Since it's improv, I'm going back again and again cuz it will be a new show each time.
Funny, innovative, supremely confident!
They improvised entire musical numbers as they go. That’s the concept. And they landed them. As someone with a… discrete… singing talent, I am very impressed by those with lots of it. And it’s fun, and it works, and the people doing it do it with some excellent comic timing, while singing. Improvised singing while *on mic*, a thrilling level of confidence. This is a talented, fun, cast, who quite literally pulled straight up opera out of… thin air… at one point. Also rap that was not (particularly) cringe. As well as a host of other genres. Some of the most fun I’ve had at Fringe.
Fabulous!!
Very talented actors with amazing voices. So funny, wasn't expecting to cackle so much. I would see it again!
unreal vibe
opera punks kills it every time but dang this show was unreal fun! I laughed so hard and had such a good time watching these nuts sing and belt the funniest lyrics that create really solid and hilarious scenes. As a group they work together so well and they have fantastic movement and cohesion. And this show would not be what it is without the direction and vision from Kelly Shuda. Their music, beats and impeccable timing and attention creates just the coolest and most fun show! Gotta see the punks!
Musical improv done amazingly well!
This is a show with six delightful people improvising some pretty incredible music. I had a great time and cannot recommend them enough.
Incredibly Entertaining
The chemistry of the performers is what brings this show together. Well executed.
Top-Notch
Freshmen Year in the Labyrinth is my new favorite improv scene.
The Wet Slip n Slide Lives Rent Free in my Brain
Insane that they can make songs up like this on the spot! Funny even when the songs don't make sense
So much fun!!!
We were meant to be seeing something else but ran out of time to walk back to the other theatre. I was VERY impressed with the talent of these singers, and their willingness to jump into silly. Standout moments from the show we saw were everyone gathered around the dying polar bear and harmonizing. It was honestly a moment you couldn't believe was improvised. Then mentioning coca-cola??? Icing on the poor dying frosty bear's cake.
Amazing!
So many laughs. Love these performers and seeing good improv!
I have an improvised song stuck in my head.
Wow wow wow, can you build a better improv-semble?? Powerhouse after powerhouse after powerhouse. These performers build off of each other seamlessly. The excellence, trust, and creativity SEEPED from the show. I had such a great time.
Hilarious and incredible improv!!!!
