Company: W.A.S. Productions
Show: A Number
Venue: Phoenix Theater
Caryl Churchill at Her Best
Churchill is one of the top British playwrights of the last 50 years, and A Number is one of her most interesting plays. The cast brings off the show with aplomb and the performance is nearly as good as the original production I saw in London.
Company: Jason Schommer
Show: A Material Boy Living In A Madonna World!
Venue: Strike Theater
Well done one-person show
I'm not a particular fan of Madonna, but I enjoyed this show which was well performed. Nice use of slide projections.

Show: Least Likely To Succeed: Tales From A Midwestern Homeschooler
Venue: Bryant Lake Bowl
Miscellaneous stand-up ...
I was expecting more about having been home-schooled, but this turned out to be miscellaneous stand-up that was not as well rehearsed as it probably should have been ... there were many chuckles from some in the audience, but not a lot of good laughs.
Company: Jackdonkey Productions
Show: The Dumb Waiter
Venue: Open Eye Theatre
Very Well Done
This show was very faithful to Pinter's script, include Pinter's detailed stage directions. I enjoyed seeing the show, never having seen this particular Pinter play.
Company: Dime Stage Co.
Show: The Zoo Story
Venue: Bryant Lake Bowl
Lived up to my hopes
I read this play over 50 years ago but had never seen it performed. The acting was fantastic. A must see if you have any interest in serious theater.
Company: Transatlantic Love Affair
Show: 5 x 5
Venue: Open Eye Theatre
Loved it!
I have missed Transatlantic Love Affair ... it was wonderful to have them back at Fringe after 9 years absence and the show lived up to all of my expectations. The understudy who stepped in for an actor out with Covid was impressive and there was no way to thinks he hadn't been rehearsing all along (rather than just the last three days). Book this show IMMEDIATELY if you want to be assured of seeing it.
