This is a show about dreams.
What you need to know is this: I have DREAMT of becoming a father since before the third grade.I made most of my life goals while reading comic books and they haven’t changed much.
When I was 7, I wanted to be a teacher, a writer, a father
and batman.
When does your license to become a parent expire?
Fast forward and suddenly I was 30 and I hadn’t had a kid yet. I met the love of my life, KRISTIN, and On our first date, she wore a T-shirt from some obscure Harry Potter cover band. Her nerd game was strong!
One day she turns to me and says, “Honey my eggs are expiring!”Kristin was 38, I was 42.
FACT: Getting pregnant the old fashioned way - zero dollars.Fact: in vitro fertilization or IVF- costs 20,000 dollars per cycle.
FACT: Many couples need 3 or more cycles
FACT: Many IVF pregnancies end in miscarriage
It felt easier to put a man on the moon than conceive a baby through IVF.
But then again it’s all about the eggs. How many ping pong balls are you gonna get in the hopper. 25 eggs? 15?
After reading the pamphlets, We hoped for at least 12 eggs.
The doctor told us we’d be lucky if a woman close to 40 got 6 eggs.
In the end, after all was said and done, after retrieval and fertilization,
and waiting for them to mature, we got….

Are you a gambler? I am and now I was about to purchase a lottery ticket and it cost $20,000 dollars.
And we did it! Kristin was pregnant!
Finally, It was time to find out the gender of the baby and do a routine ultrasound. It was a boy!
The doctor said
Well his brain looks great,
His lungs look great.
but there’s something wrong with his heart.
He’s got a hole in his heart and the blood is flowing in the wrong direction. He may not be born at all.
But if he is born he will require immediate surgery. Also, you must know that often when there is one defect , especially in IVF, there are others.
