Changing the Narrative: Climate Stories for Justice is a five-run show at MN Fringe Fest 2022 (Aug 5,7,8,11, & 13), produced by Jothsna Harris of Change Narrative. The show is an evocative experience of the senses intended to connect both the head and heart on climate change and spur action on this critical issue of our time. Co-hosted by Emcee Rasheed Harris, this production features live, spoken narratives by Twin Cities-based climate justice organizers interspersed with graphic illustration, music, and poetry. Featured storytellers include Whitney Terrill (Minnesota Interfaith Power and Light), Nicole Ektnitphong (Climate Advocacy Lab), and Leslee Gutiérrez Carrillo (COPAL); visual imagery by illustrator Lisa Troutman of Drawn Well and songwriters/poets Strong Buffalo and Ben Weaver (known together as the musical duo Buffalo Weavers).
Changing the Narrative: Climate Stories for Justice is supported by Oyate Hotanin as part of a year-long climate action-driven project, Society of Mother Earth (S.O.M.E.). Developed with funding as an awardee of the Minnesota Humanities Center 2022-2023 Cultural Heritage and Community Identity Grant.
Special thanks to event sponsors The Nature Conservancy and City and County Credit Union
