Developers is written and directed by Michael Rogers, a troupe member of the 2018 City Pages Best Theater Troupe winner Sheep Theater, and will be his fifth original work debuted in the Minnesota Fringe Festival. His previously featured shows include Parachute (2015), An Imaginary End (2016), Sheep Theater's Pinnochio (2017) co-written by Joey Hamburger and Michael Rogers, Now We See It (2018), and Chorus (2019). His work has been called "evocative, nostalgia-laden, and movement driven" by the Star Tribune, "hilarious...a whole lot of fun" by Cherry and Spoon, and "Deeply moving" by Lavender Magazine. His ensemble movement-based theatrical style is fully displayed in this new wickedly fast show inspired by the video gaming industry. Check out the first three minutes of Developers, as part of the Minnesota Fringe Previews.
Mario, Fortnite, and Call of Duty have been the titans of electronic entertainment, but who made them? In the volatile world of video gaming, developers work tirelessly to bring ideas to life. But dreams that take years to build can collapse in the blink of an eye. In this heartfelt and hilarious tribute to the gaming industry, watch as one team races to launch their first indie game. Will they fly high among other gaming greats? Or will they plummet to the pavement as the world watches?
