More Information
Icterine is an open adaptation of "The Yellow Wallpaper" by Charlotte Perkins Gilman. What does that mean? Well, in loose terms, it means, we're exploring the story! I know that doesn't give you much to go off of, so let me try to explain it further. We are using sound and movement and text as a way to explore themes involved within the story. Sure the overall play follows the structure of "The Yellow Wallpaper" but there are deviations in the text in order to take a pause, a breath, an examination.
Speaking of examination, we wanted to cut the play a little short in hopes that you would partake of an activity at the end. Don't worry, we're not calling anyone up on the stage. We've left post cards on the tables with a prompt that reads, "Please write a letter to your future self." Take a moment to discuss with your group, or ponder on your own, how you can give yourself empowerment and love. Or feel free to write a letter to someone else. We all need love and support.
There is no curtain call.
Show runs less than 40 mins.
