Show: Butts in Seats: How to Get People to Attend Your Shakespeare Production by Having Musical Settings for the Lyrics in His Plays. Numerous Examples Included.

Music + Shakespeare = a glorious performance
I'm a huge Shakespeare fan but didn't realize the numbers of songs included in his plays. While the music is lost, the lyrics remain and Ken Takata (plus vocalists) bring them to life in this lovely performance. From 30s style songs to 70s glam rock, they create a wonderful evening. His explanations of where the words come from that inspired his settings is entertaining too.

Deserves a bigger audience!
Abdimalik's amazing strength and vulnerability in the face of crushing depression comes through in his stories and poems. Opening night was his 22nd birthday and his voice needs to be heard by anyone facing emotional highs and lows. Or really anyone wanting to hear a stunning new voice. Highly recommended.
