Company: Scarlett d. Jones
Show: The Year of Sluttery
Venue: Open Eye Theatre

A fun romp of sexual exploration

Wouldn't it be nice if women were allowed to enjoy sex without being branded a slut? Personally, I consider "slut" a compliment. It was nice to see someone embrace just wanting sex. Unapologetically sharing stories about the men she met and giving them the most delightful names.

Company: Deconstructing Directing
Show: Director's Cut: Where Play Becomes Magic
Venue: Rarig Kilburn Theatre

Nice presentation about the process.

As a director myself, I was enthralled watching someone else's process. He is correct about most directors learning by doing, which was my experience. I enjoyed watching the actors find their characters and the exploration the director included in that transition.

Company: Sufian Zhemukhov
Show: An Immigrant's Guide to America
Venue: Open Eye Theatre

Wonderful stories @ religion, politics and guns.

I thoroughly enjoyed this show and the stories he told. His voice I found so soothing. I could listen to him read a dishwasher owner's manual just to hear him speak!

Company: Sophia R.B. White
Show: White Noises
Venue: Open Eye Theatre

Raw emotional talent

It is so difficult to bring real emotion to a performance and this young artist nailed it. I'm sure they will continue to grow as a performer and will be a force to be reckoned with. As a mother to a daughter her age, it also enforced my thought that I would NOT want to be that age, now. It's a show worth being uncomfortable over.

Company: Haute Dish Productions
Show: The Book of Mordor
Venue: Rarig Stoll Thrust Theatre

So good!

I've never seen The Book or Mormon. I have seen Lord of the Rings many times. I just LOVED this show, even though I didn't get the musical references. So creative and an amazing cast. Go see it, you will not be disappointed.

Company: Steven Nicholas
Show: Mind Reader
Venue: Rarig Nolte Xperimental Theatre

I'll never think about pi the same way

This was a great show. Steven handles the audience like a true professional. I was sitting way up top in the back for no other reason than I was cold and figured that was the warmest spot. 😄 I think I had as much fun watching the audience respond to his show as I did the show itself. Very well done. So much fun!

Company: Timothy Mooney Repertory Theatre
Show: Breakneck Twelfth Night
Venue: Barbara Barker Center for Dance

I'm a Tim Mooney Groupie

I am always in awe of the sheer talent Tim has. I'm not even a huge fan of The Bard. You don't need to be to enjoy this show. He commands the stage like no other. If you like Shakespeare at all, go see this show.

Company: Philip Simondet
Show: Fall of the High School Valedictorian
Venue: Rarig Nolte Xperimental Theatre

Radical Honesty at its best.

Philip is an artist. He is a performer. He is a great performer. He is also human. Who he is now and how he's made it to this point is a success story. The fact he is willing to share is struggle, which is ongoing, is commendable. Sometime we all need a reminder to offer grace to our fellow peeps because we all have struggles we are dealing with. This show is definitely worth watching.

Company: SUPERMOON
Show: All Your Shimmering Gold
Venue: Rarig Stoll Thrust Theatre

The absolute epitome of a fringe show!

Why not combine weapons of mass destruction and an opera? I just LOVED this show for its creativity and the execution was wonderful. This kinda show is what Fringe is all about. Different, weird, makes you want to see more opera. Bring an extra $5 though, or the show may not happen. 🙃

Company: Dogdog-Beardog
Show: Ranger Jim
Venue: Rarig Kilburn Theatre

I enjoyed this show very much.

It is apparent that Ranger Jim has more than a few passions. Luckily for us, one is storytelling and the other is our country's vast network of national parks. He shares wonderful, heartfelt stories and reminds us that we need to fight to keep our parks.

Company: Brad Lawrence
Show: The Big Secret
Venue: Rarig Kilburn Theatre

Some secrets need to be shared.

I am a fan of solo shows. In some, the performer is playing a character to tell a story. In others, the performer is sharing personal experiences. While I enjoy both, I hold some extra respect for the performers who are vulnerable enough to share such personal stories. Brad is obviously an accomplished performer and storyteller. The story he shares is one that needs to be told. In doing do, I think he is honoring his friend. Go see it.

Company: Griffy LaPlante
Show: Salt
Venue: Barbara Barker Center for Dance

This show is why I live Fringe

Fringe is often the best way to get a new work produced. This crew of young, new artists did an amazing job of presenting a current perspective on an not so new topic. Go see it. They deserve an audience as bold as they are.

Company: Marie Cooney Stories
Show: Journey to Joy, Again
Venue: Rarig Nolte Xperimental Theatre

A wonderful reminder!

I needed this. I needed to be reminded that we don't have to give in to things that are not in our control. We can choose to let an injury define us, or we can continue on our path, no matter how difficult, to find what makes us happy.

Company: Michael Quadrozzi
Show: Against My Will
Venue: Rarig Nolte Xperimental Theatre

So good, I saw it twice!

Ok, so I didn't mean to see it twice, but was very glad I did. The story Michael so flawlessly shares is one that more people can relate to that are probably willing to admit. Families are often difficult to navigate. Give yourself permission to see this show. It's cheaper than a good therapist, but more enlightening.

Company: Nichole Carey & Company
Show: Withering Lows: A Love Story Better Off Dead
Venue: Rarig Nolte Xperimental Theatre

What a fun show!

I'll admit, I never read Wuthering Heights. Didn't matter one iota. It was a fun show with the right amount of spooky sounds and dream dance sequences. Kudos to all the actors for making it look like they were all having a good time.

Company: Jennifer Vosters
Show: Songs Without Words (or, The Mendelssohn Play)
Venue: Rarig Nolte Xperimental Theatre

Such an amazing talent.

I was so impressed with the dedication to both characters and the flawless way Jennifer passed from.one to the other. Definitely one of the best shows at this Fringe. Go see it, even if you don't think you like classical music.

Company: SAATH
Show: Manasu - Echoes of the Mind
Venue: Rarig Nolte Xperimental Theatre

Affairs of the heart are complicated

A wonderful presentation of the complexities of a relationship when you are trying to balance what your heart wants and desires with the love you already have. Very well done. Great acting. Go see it.

Company: Raffish Ripoff Productions
Show: Trust ̶E̶x̶e̶r̶c̶i̶s̶e̶s̶ Exorcises
Venue: Rarig Nolte Xperimental Theatre

A story well told, a cautionary tale of authority

Sadly, the adults in a child's life are not always wonderful. A problem adult being allowed to be a problem adult is even more frustrating. Phil tells a polished story of surviving his high school theatre cult. I enjoyed his performance so much.

Company: New Endeavors
Show: An Exorcism, Don'tcha Know?
Venue: Barbara Barker Center for Dance

Pure fun!

This is such a fun show. All the actors were wonderful. You will not be disappointed if you see this show, unless you are a demon.

Company: Paper Soul
Show: Boxcutter Harmonica
Venue: Barbara Barker Center for Dance

Great show!

This is, by far, Martin Dockery's best performance. However, as good as it was, Motz ran circles around him. He bested the best. I'm a personal fan of shows that blend the line between performance and reality. This was a great show, a great FRINGE show. Motz doesn't need anyone to share the stage to show how talented he is.

Company: Wells Farnham
Show: I Have Griefances
Venue: Barbara Barker Center for Dance

Heartfelt and funny.

When it comes to solo performances, some create new worlds and new characters. Some share a story that makes us realize that no matter how different we are from one another, we all have similarities that make us human. This show is a great example of the latter.

Company: Richie Whitehead
Show: The Wickie
Venue: Barbara Barker Center for Dance

A very funny physical comedy! Go!

Physical comedy, good physical comedy, is not easy to do. Richie makes it look easy and proves he is a master at it. His commitment to his character is impressive. I especially loved his use of light and interaction with the audience. It was a good house for the 1st show and lots of laughter had by all. Do yourself a favor and go see this show.

Company: angela olson
Show: Someone Always Pays
Venue: Barbara Barker Center for Dance

I love being left to wonder how it will end

I enjoyed lots of little things about this show. The actors were dedicated to their characters and the acting well done. I enjoyed the stark use of props to help convey the feeling. I loved the end, not being what I expected. I almost wish it had been longer. Good work!

Company: 2HOOTS PRODUCTIONS
Show: Jon Bennett: AMERICAN'T
Venue: Barbara Barker Center for Dance

Jon is such a wonderful storyteller.

I'll admit, I've been a fan of his from shows at Orlando Fringe, and was thrilled to see he was here. As usual, he delivered a sharp, humorous narrative about his life. The show ends and you are left wanting to hear more for no other reason than he is such a likable human.
