Clever but One-Note?

Some impressive technical elements, but they relied too much on parodying the Book of Mormon songs. So, it was cute and impressive to match the songs with LOTR, but it felt like the same joke told over and over for an hour.

Hilarious!

As a fan of the source material - I didn't stop giggling through the whole thing. Samwise, Frodo, Pippin and Merry were incredible!

Genius!!!

This show has it all. It is a creative and well-written parody of Lord of the Rings set to the music of Book of Mormon. Although not required, familiarity with both works will enhance your enjoyment and appreciation for the subtle humor. Don't fret, there is plenty of transparent humor throughout the show. The cast is excellent with emotional and strong vocal performances. Take a moment to appreciate the excellent costuming, lighting, and props. There is no doubt that this show is the "Fringest." It took us all the way to Mordor in less than an hour. Bravo to all.

Haute Dish Productions did it again!!

What a great show! I laughed all the way through it. The way they combined LOTR and The Book of Mormon blew my mind. So creative!! A MUST SEE!!

I loved this show! What an excellent parody. It was amazing how all the songs from the book of mormon worked so well. I laugh thru the whole thing. Writing was hilarious and the executuon from the actors was really good. It was really apparent they were having so much fun on stage with the material. Whover the kid was who played Baromir and Fararmir was a riot. The Dwarf slayed as well. So much fun.

A good fun show that could be great

IP-based musicals are a staple of the Fringe, and they’re difficult to pull off well. This company does a good job at condensing two wildly different properties together with clever parodies. While my enjoyment was hindered to some degree by some uneven vocals and messy staging and blocking, the writing of the Book of Mormon parodies was very well done, and one segment in particular (the parody of Spooky Mormon Hell Dream, in Mordor) was worth the time alone.

YOU SHALL NOT PASS over this show!

I traveled 2+ hours to see this show and I would do it again! I love the Lord of the Rings and I have never seen the Book of Mormon. The Book of Mordor was hilarious. I laughed till I had tears! The writers are very clever and did a great job of getting the whole story in a short time frame and simultaneously making it funny! The cast was great and the comedic timing was impeccable. Don't miss this show!

Pure Comedy Gold

This 1-hour musical does a breakneck abridged version of the full Tolkien trilogy using LOTR-ified versions of songs from The Book of Mormon. It's a hilarious, shockingly seamless mashup, and almost entirely songs. And most of the fellowship is played by women, which makes "Man Up" extra funny! I didn't just laugh the whole hour, I also cackled.

Initially wasn’t planning on going because I am not familiar with the Book of Mormon, but very glad I went!

The production team finessed Book of Mormon songs into the telling of the LOTR stories in a slick presentation. Good costumes and props with strong voices!

The ring is THE thing!

A fun experience marching through Lord of the Rings. Cast was wonderful. And man - can Samwise sing! Really enjoyed the show.

Fantastic LOR Parody!

I have seen both Book of Mormon and all the LOTR movies. I loved the amazing songs that worked well, which was pretty much anytime Samwise and Frodo sang. Not every song in Book of Mormon needed a parody. The ensemble as a whole was not tight enough musically, hence the 4 kittens. That said, the show was a hoot and I enjoyed it immensely!

One Hour of Laughter

I’ve seen Book of Mormon and haven’t seen LOTR and LOVED this. It was so punny, costumes were spot on, and so many parts of both stories were captured into one epic hour of laughter and story telling. Highly Recommend. Congrats on opening night!!!

Delightful Show!

There is an air of fun and professionalism in this show. The cast is amazing; the musical numbers are exceptionally well done. The fun that the cast is having on stage spreads throughout the audience as we smile, laugh and travel with the cast!

So funny! From the costumes to the body language, there were laughs all around!

Hilariously Inspired

I simply walked into Rarig Theater and spent an hour laughing! The writing of this production was excellent, the costuming and props were inspired and the acting and singing were standout performances. The kitty distribution system sends out 5 kitties for this musical!

Nothing is more "Fringier" than this show! Great writing puts 10+ hours of LOTR into one great show! Clever combination of the story and Book of Mormon songs. Love the costumes, vocals, acting...everything! This is a must see!

Exactly What I Hoped For!

I was very intrigued by the concept of a show combining LOTR and Book of Mormon —and, boy, did they deliver! I thoroughly enjoyed the entire show. The actors were hilarious, I loved the music, loved the costumes (Gollum? Priceless), everything. The whole crew (and audience) seemed like they were having a blast.

LOVE this show! Huge fan of Book of Mormon and Lord of the Rings - show is a perfect, hilarious mash up. Costuming was incredible. Was laughing the entire time with the exception of when I cried.

Fantastic Fringe Show!

Haute Dish Productions always seems to work their magic to mold together a story using a famous stage sound track. This show didn't disappoint! It was cleverly written - both the dialogue and lyrics. There were great costumes, great energy and kept me laughing through the entire show. This is one you won't want to miss!!!

Um, actually...

According to my biology courses there wouldn't be termites in the stamen.... but seriously, I absolutely loved the show, so well done and so funny!!!! Looking forward to what you do next!

One show to rule them all!

Wow, take a large cast, many costumes and props and tell the story of LOTR in an hour with so much humour and mash it up with the music of Book of Mormon and you have the Book of Mordor (please make sure you are rolling Rs) From the opening song to the final battle this cast had the audience in the palm of their hands. Haute Dish did it again and you will be happy to have seen this. (Hats off to the props person too!)

Clever parody! It’s goofy, it's heartfelt, it's fun. Exactly what Fringe does best. Don't miss this funny, unholy quest!

Funny and enjoyable

This is fun even if you are familiar with *just* the musical or *just* LotR, but I think having at least some familiarity with both improved a lot of the jokes. Some terrific performances (Boromir singing "Me and Him (but mostly me)" was probably my favorite bit in the whole show.)

Clever, Cunning, and Hilarious

You don't have to be a massive LOTR or Book of Mormon fan to appreciate this level of creativity and hilarity (though if you are, you will appreciate the deep cuts). The cast has great on-stage collaboration and chemistry. The props, costumes, vocal ranges, quick quips, and clever parodies were unparalleled. Haute Dish served up another great performance! Do yourself a favor and go laugh for an hour at this comedic musical masterpiece. I wish I could give more than five kitties.

One Show to Rule Them All

What a hoot! The singing was great, the staging was hilarious, and the songs were punny. I took off half a kitty because it's much better if you're familiar with The Book of Mormon. Nevertheless, if you're an LOTR fan, don't miss it!

Solid Show

The show delivered what it promised - a tribute to the Rings. Costuming exceeded expectations. Some fine musical moments. If you like Lord of the Rings go to this production.

A total Hobbit Hoot!

I came in not realizing "the Book of Mormon" foundation in the music (pretty obvious being the show's NAME, but I am possibly thick...) and been a minute since I read or watched any Tolkein books/films. Mattered not at all! The wink/nod references to the characters/sources of the material and the fun-poking at the "bare stage" production limitations made the show even more fun! The cast had us by our collars from the first song, and the fluid nerdy lines and lyrics were hilarious. Perfect getaway from reality for 80 minutes or so. I want to drink lotsa mead with that bunch!

High quality show!

This production is beyond amazing! It has it all-so much Incredible talent! Great humor with excellent one-liners. From program design to choreography to costume effects, to vocal talent and acting styles- Book of Mordor Is fantastic!

Great concept!

This was a great show! I hadn’t heard the music from the Book of Mormon before, but it didn’t matter! Frodo and Sam duets were amazing, and the whole cast put their hearts into the performance.

Exactly what it says…

This show delivers exactly what it claims to be. If you know Book of Mormon and Lord of the Rings, and the idea of making all of the songs from Book of Mormon about the Lord of the Rings, then this is the show for you. If you don’t know the Book of Mormon or the Lord of the Rings… well, go check them out, you’ll thank yourself, and then come check out this show.

The singing was absolutely fantastic, the writing was a blast, and the setting was amazing. Excellent, excellent show!!!

For the Fans

I'll admit I'm not super familiar with all the source material they're drawing from, which might have affected my experience. There were definitely references and jokes that seemed to land better with other audience members who were more in-the-know than I was. That said, the heart of the show really comes through in the central friendship storyline. Those characters have such genuine chemistry and their bond carries a lot of emotional weight. When they're on stage together, the show finds its footing. There were some genuinely funny bits scattered throughout, and you can see the potential in the concept. It might just need a little more time to gel. Worth checking out if you're curious, and familiar.

By fans for fans

I’m not sure how big the cross over is between fantasy and theater nerds but for those of us who are both, this show hit a sweet spot. The large and talented cast did not disappoint. If you’re not familiar with either LOTR or BOM just enjoy the singing and dancing!

Fun Jaunt through Middle Earth

Cast and Crew did a fantastic job taking us through the Lord of the Rings Trilogy in a jolly pace. Fun and silly especially if you're fairly familiar with Lord of the Rings and Book of Mormon. As a big fan of Musical Theater Parodies, this one is right up there in my book!

So good!

I've never seen The Book or Mormon. I have seen Lord of the Rings many times. I just LOVED this show, even though I didn't get the musical references. So creative and an amazing cast. Go see it, you will not be disappointed.
