Cast and Crew
Carissa Christenson
Merry / Writer
Carissa is ecstatic to be back at the Minnesota Fringe Festival for a third time! Living in Mankato, she can always be found in some artistic or theatrical endeavor at home or in the community. If you’re a Fringe Fanatic you may recognize her from the 2019 Fringe hit Chisago: The Musical where she played Velma, or from 2022’s lesser known pirate musical (#thankscovid) Bonny & Read where she played Anne Bonny. Many thanks to the Pippin to my Merry – my writing partner, scene partner, and partner in crime. Cheers to another show in the books! Now sit back, and enjoy this Journey! Grond Bless.
Kendra Braunger
Pippin / Writer
"Hello! My name is Kendra, and I am thrilled to be back at the Minnesota Fringe Festival with this fellowship of incredible people!” Her past Fringe quests include 2019’s Chisago: The Musical as Roxie and 2022’s Bonny & Read as Marry Read. When not hanging out with ents or harmonizing with elves, Kendra enjoys second breakfasts, traveling to distant lands, and supporting the arts. She’d like to thank her own fellowship, her family and friends, for helping her through the theatrical Mordor (assisting with props and listening to her talk about the show nonstop for the last month). Special shoutout to the Merry both on stage and in her life – thank you for being you and for working together to make something incredible. Through Grond all things are possible.
Brianna Webber
Frodo
After questing with Haute Dish for Chisago: The Musical, Brianna returns to Fringe as Frodo in the Book of Mordor! Brianna is a St. Paul-based performer/educator who lives with her partner, their kids, and a council of cats. Eternal thanks to Tolkien, Peter Jackson, Elijah Wood, Carissa and Kendra, this cast, and her fantasy-loving family. Biggest love to Caitlyn, her Sam - Frodo wouldn’t have gotten very far without Sam. To Rob and Rose - you are the light of Eärendil in a dark world. Keep shining!
Keith Steinke
Samwise
Keith is honored to be in his third Fringe show and Haute Dish Production as Samwise Gamgee. His last Fringe appearance was as Mary’s Historian in HDP’s production of Bonny & Read, and you may also recognize him from his performance as Amos in HDP’s Chisago: The Musical. He is active in Merely Players, a Mankato community theater, where he also serves on the Board of Directors. Thanks so much for coming to the show, and tell all your friends!
Blake Grotewold
Gandalf
Blake is thrilled to be participating in his second MN Fringe and Haute Dish production! He is from Mankato where he works in software engineering. On stage, he has recently performed with Merely Players as Dr. Frank-N-Furter in The Rocky Horror Show and Cliff in Cabaret. Blake wants to thank you for supporting your local playwrites, theaters, and actors!
Abby Pettit
Aragorn
This is Abby’s first appearance at the Minnesota Fringe Festival, and she’s honored to be joining Haute Dish Productions for Book of Mordor! Abby sings with Calliope Womens Choir in St. Paul and works as a corporate attorney.
Ben Bartusek
Legolas
Ben is thrilled to be in his first Minnesota Fringe show! Previous shows include 9 to 5, Rock of Ages, and Jesus Christ Superstar with Merely Players and Mankato Playhouse. He resides in Mankato where he runs a financial planning practice! Thanks for your support of creatives in Minnesota!
Tyler Christenson
Gimli
Tyler’s love of theater started in 4th grade when he first played “Who’s Line is it Anyway” with his friends. You may recognize him from his previous Fringe shows with Haute Dish Productions where he played Anne’s Historian in Bonny & Read and Paul Bunyan in Chisago: The Musical. He is also involved in theater back home in Mankato where he has acted, directed, and even trained his dog Rupert for the stage.
Patrick Leigh
Boromir / Faramir / Eomer
Patrick is thrilled to join Haute Dish Productions for the first time and with a show pulled straight from a staple of the fantasy genre. Living in Eden Prairie, he writes, acts, and directs all over southern Minnesota. From murder mysteries to musicals, Patrick invests his energy in all things theatre. Previous credits include Lee Harvey Oswald in Assassins, Emcee in Cabaret, and director of Mankato Playhouse’s production of Little Shop of Horrors. Catch Patrick during the upcoming fall season at Valleyfair’s Tricks and Treats and ValleyScare.
Jason Toupence
Bilbo / Elrond
This is Jason’s second performance in a Minnesota Fringe show. He’s been involved with his local community theater over the past 10 years. He also spent many years as a high school one-act director. His family has been a huge influence and support in his theater journey! He is super excited to dance into Mordor with you.
Andrea Broman
Eowyn
Andrea is a multi-disciplined theater artist performing for the first time with Haute Dish Productions and the Minnesota Fringe Festival. Her most recent work includes directing Tick, Tick... Boom! with Centenary Social Justice Theater in Mankato, and performing the role of Margaret in Dolly Parton’s 9-5. When she’s not on stage, she works as a process management professional and enjoys knitting and reading. She’s most excited for the audience to see these classic stories in a new (hilarious) light!
Aaron Trost
Gollum
Aaron is looking forward to performing at the Fringe Festival for the 2nd time and is excited to be playing Gollum. Some other shows Aaron has done are Cabaret, Jesus Christ Superstar, Addam’s Family, Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, and many others. Aaron is excited to put his acting and music experience together to be a part of this amazing show.
