Tip your artist!
Phil Gonzales spins his Wonder Wheel of Wonder and spins a few tales of his messed up high school theater experience. Storytelling + improv + pathos + trauma + acting lessons! Also, it's apparently funny? 🤷

Video Trailer
Cast and Crew
Phil Gonzales
Creator/Writer/Producer/Performer
Two years ago, Phil Gonzales did a show at the Fringe called "Lost In Bear Country." It was all about Phil and the Berenstain Bears and mental health and family and also the Berenstain Bears. It was well received. Phil also has podcasts, "Deep In Bear Country" also about the Berenstain Bears and "It's Del Toro Time" which is about horror and horror-adjacent media. In his spare time, Phil sits and looks at things on a screen. He'll be doing this show (or something very like it) at the Elgin Fringe in September!
Corinna Troth
Production Support
Corinna Troth (She/her) balks at writing a bio but is pleased to be returning to the Minnesota Fringe Festival! She previously produced The Simple Mind of Dillon Magee and appeared in and created a puppet for First Year Queer, both in 2017.
Willow Piotrowski

Willow Piotrowski only began to write this bio the morning of the opening show. They don’t think this is a big deal, and will not accept any criticism on the matter. This show marks the second (you could argue third but we don’t have time for that) time Willow has been part of/complicit in a production at the Fringe. The first (or second) being “Lost in Bear Country”. That’s what happens when your dad does a one man show.
Mitzi Gonzales Gravitz

Mitzi is super excited to be a part of her dad's show once again. She thinks he's super cool and rad. Just this morning she was all, "Sometimes I think about how awesome my dad is and I know there's a God."
More Information

I swear, for the hundredth time, this is actually a fast-moving, insightful, joyful piece. I laughed, I related, I did not cry. Give it a chance. I left feeling energized and happy. - Jessica Armbruster, racketmn.com

Reviews from Phil’s sell-out 2023 show Lost In Bear County:

"Phil's brain is delightfully weird. His mania is infectious (in a good way) and his storytelling is thought provoking."

    – 5 Kitty Fringe Review

"The show is designed to be a different experience each time out, so maybe see it twice if your schedule allows. The joy of Phil’s crowd work alone is worth it."

    – 5 Kitty Fringe Review

"A very funny, wild, all over the place kind of show that in the end kind of makes sense and is even a little inspiring and enlightening."

    – cherryandspoon.com

"Didn't know what to expect but loved every minute of this glimpse into the mind of Phil! I am so glad my family and I had this experience."

    – 5 Kitty Fringe Review

"ADHD Personified. Shows like this are why I Fringe!"

    – 5 Kitty Fringe Review

"This is a high energy and very funny show. Gonzales is a genuinely endearing performer..."

Behind the scenes! I GUESS I SHOULD DO THIS?

Behind the scenes! CRATES!

Look, it's been a while since I've done a show. I'm a little older, a little heavier, and a whole lot... sillier? I guess? We'll go with sillier.

A few years ago, I really started delving into my lack of trust: in myself, in my loved ones, in society, in authority. Pretty much in everything. My therapist was all "What gives?" And I was all, "I think I know what gives." And he was all, "Wanna talk about it?" And was all "Lights up... on an empty stage." AND I WAS BACK IN THE GAME, BAYBEEE!

This show is a comedy and a traumady. It's funny because life is funny. Is it graphic? No. I don't go into gory details. Plus, the gory details? Not really mine to share. The truly terrible stuff is someone else's story.

This is the story of my experience in a brutal, horrible, messed up, manipulative, cult of personality. It's the tale of being the inside outsider. The example. The second best. It's the story of self-worth, and how precious a thing that is.

It's also completely randomized! I spin a wheel to guide me through the story! Come every night! I get bored easily, so I tend to make up the show as I go along. Bring a friend! Want to audience participate? We can do that!

PLEASE COME TO MY SHOW.
