In an apartment near you, friends are preparing dinner: chopping onions, stirring sauce, and - oh no, the smoke alarm!! This choreographed, nearly wordless short is inspired by the movies of Jacques Tati, and set to the music of Deep Dig Ensemble.
Founded in 2019, Virginia Twins is a collaborative performance company that creates theatrical dance pieces and movement workshops grounded in empathy, experimentation, and humor. We began on a farm in Virginia, where we spent a few weeks studying the practices of Jerzy Grotowski. We focused on acrobatic movement techniques, listening to our internal impulses, and building an improvisational awareness or 'presence work'. Upon returning to our lives in the Twin Cities, the six of us used those exercises and techniques to develop our own theater practice and experimental performance pieces.
