Demons-R-Us
Perhaps the funniest show of the Fringe? Lots of stereotypes, but lots of surprises as well. Some really great performances, and the technical elements are well done. The acting is a bit uneven, but the show succeeds extremely well regardless. I would put this one in the Must-See category. Enjoy!
Company: Aethem Theatre
Show: Grief, It's What's For Dinner
Venue: Open Eye Theatre
Tear Jerker
Don't let the title fool you, although very funny in parts, this show touches on some very real and universal issues with grief, loss, death, illness, et cetera. Great performance from Sher U-F. By the end of the show, the usher was sobbing. However, don't let this deter you, it is a show worth seeing. Just be prepared.
Company: Jason Schommer
Show: 50: A Totally Rad Comedy About the Gnarly Reckoning of a Gen Xer!
Venue: Strike Theater
Very Funny, As Usual
Jason is always entertaining, and this show is no exception. A bit beyond stand-up comedy, this is comic storytelling at its best. Incorporating musical interludes and projected illustrations, his shows continue to evolve. He is both highly amusing and very touching. Very genuine in his presentation, the show is not just funny but affecting. One note for the venue: Strike Theater needs new seats. Thoe horrible banquet chairs are medieval torture devices.
