These Actors Were Amazing

Sitting down, I truly didn't know what this play was going to be about. If you read through the other reviews you'll understand how fun the writing is, Nicholas Pecora did a fantastic job making a work that is engaging throughout. His work is only more complimented by Abbey Lowenstein directing, this feels like it would a hard task to get everything as cohesive and fantastical as it was but she pulled it off with the use of her great actors. Every actor from Andi Davey to Gavin Webb to Michael Quadrozzi made the absolute most of each second they were on the stage. There were a few little things with some of the actors that i wanted to highlight, in hopes people read this before the shows final performance on Sunday so they can appreciate it as much as i did. Off the bat, one of the performances that is seen throughout but is usually in the background is that of Tricia Buerke. Tricia seems like this role was made for her, every second the light is on her she is giving some kind of facial expression even when she's off into a corner. Almost to the point you want to watch what she's doing off to the side while there are detectives and princes dancing all around. It's truly a great time watching her work. I can't imagine anyone else doing a more perfect job then she did. One of the stand out moments during the play for me was with a performance given by Joel Dammeier. Later into the show, Joel turns into a person I've never seen before. The closest example would be a a saddened Jim Carrey locked in a box who's trying to become free. I could watch a whole play purely on him for an hour. He gives a single line that is not only funny but sad but you're not sure how to feel and it's amazing. He's doing this all while in the background Alexandria Rumsey does a hilarious job seemly being a character in their own story, wishing for a better life, but for the time being has to go get a snack that smiles back. Erika Soukup says her first lines towards the end of the play but her conversation with Benjamin Thacker (who is just a great guy in this play) was just really enjoyable to watch. She didn't do a grand voice, or do silly expressions. But how she conversed with Benjamin was fantastic. How the two bounced off each other was what made the play more than some amazing wacky antics. The way Erika reacted to thing in-between her lines felt like the most natural thing in the world for her and in a play of over the top roles and set ups, I believed who she said she was. Finally speaking of over the top roles Erin Pecha gives the most over the top performance in the best way possible. Without giving out what she does to avoid spoilers, she out of everyone in the cast talks the most to the crowd and we eat it up. I was desperately waiting for her next line to us in-between not letting any other character be too comfortable with their silly thoughts or opinions. All this to say, I just really enjoyed this play. And the people who worked on it should be proud. I was happy i was able to attend the sold out show and I'm hoping Sundays final performance is over flowing with audience members.
