Tip your artist!
A pirate, his first mate, and a faerie all bury their woes in a mountain of pixie dust. They dreamed of a life outside of their Neverland, of a place they could never, never reach... Then along came Peter.

What Is This I Don't Understand

It's The Ice Man Cometh, but Peter Pan.

Why Did You Do This

Over the past few years, Clevername Theatre has spent an inordinate amount of time tackling some of theatre's greatest works (Edward Albee's Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf?, Bertolt Brecht's Mother Courage and her Children) only to ruin them with icons of our childhood (2022's Who's Afraid of Winnie the Pooh?, 2023's Mother Courage Bear and Her Children). The Peter Pan Cometh completes a Triptych of such works that we have dubbed the Masterpiece Children's Theatre series.

I'm Not a Theatre Professor, What Is The Ice Man Cometh

In 1939, world renowned alcoholic Euguene O'Neill wrote what is commonly considered one of the greatest works of modern western theatre. The Ice Man Cometh, an overwhelmingly grim and disturbing affair, pays witness to the broken denizens of a 1910's flophouse in Manhattan, who drink to forget the failure of their lives and to delude themselves with the hope of tomorrow. They're all paid a visit by their friend Hickey, a traveling salesman who sells the lot on making their dreams reality. That sale however proves to be an existential con, designed to break their fledgling hopes for a future once and for all, to be replaced by an empty existence Hickey considers "peace".

In any event, the play made us of think of Peter Pan so here we are. For those who'd like to have a taste, you'll find a trailer for the film adaptation here:

Who is Responsible For This

Clevername Theatre is a small troupe based in the Twin Cities, dedicated to staging works original and adapted that are satirical, challenging, and so on. Active since 2016, we've spent many of the past few years staging original musicals and plays at the Minnesota Fringe Festival, in addition to independently staged works in town (Most recently our production of Machinal). We have also begun to tour our works, most recently having won "All-Access Pick" for our restaging of  Who's Afraid of Winnie The Pooh at the 2023 Cincinnati Fringe Festival.

How Do I Stop You From Doing More of These Shows

An excellent question! In theory, were our company to make exorbitant amounts of money off of our exploits, we'd presumably grow preoccupied with yachts or some such and forget the joys of the Performing Arts. One way to bring our company one step closer to yacht money would be to become a member of our Company's Patreon, were you would receive discounts for future events, as  well as an insider's look at the work we do! Of course, in the short term you would be inadvertently supporting our ability to stage more work, helping us fundraise for actor's stipends, venue fees, costumes, and so forth, but one has to start somewhere.
