History and identity
"Tompkins Squares" is a sensitive telling of a son's quest for his true identity which only his recalcitrant father can provide, set against the backdrop of the 1962 Cuban Missile Crisis...and a chess board. "Chess is war!" we and the son are to learn. Ultimately, the inspiring writing and able performance hits a nerve with audiences (see the other reviews). The writers are no strangers to the Minnesota Fringe, a place where creators can attempt new things and look for traction that may point toward success in a larger format (greater than just one Fringe hour). This is my hope for Tompkins Squares.
