Show: The Kendra Plant Variety Hour: Good Things Edition! -with special guests-
Venue: Mixed Blood
Bring new things on!
One of the first shows I saw this year and loved that I only knew it was a variety show. I love the element of surprise and this show did not disappoint. Get out and do new things! I voted this for the fringiest show because it deserves it. Everyday. All day long.
Company: Mermaid Productions
Show: The Abortion Chronicles
Venue: Rarig Kilburn Theatre
Yes please
A local favorite does it once again, proudly represents beliefs that align with my own. It’s important to hear these stories, new or old and for all genders. I will forever support the brave beings in any show they perform. Word. Thank you!
Company: Wheeler In The Sky
Show: In The Garden Of American Heroes
Venue: The Southern Theatre
Best historical fiction storyteller ever
One man show who does it all while baring it all! I always learn something new at a Wheeler show and his passion to share himself with his acting through storytelling is admirable and an honor to see.
Company: Special When Lit
Show: Fangs and Bangs (and Sangs)
Venue: The Southern Theatre
Reminiscing Delight
Making a show of preteen love, short stories, sagas, poems, notes, songs etc is brave, fun, vulnerable, and Genius. What a sweet show!
Company: Aethem Theatre
Show: Grief, It's What's For Dinner
Venue: Open Eye Theatre
Unforgettable
I'm fortunate to see a LOT of shows throughout the twin cities and discovered regardless if a show is great, mediocre, or bad it can also be forgettable. For me, this show is unforgettable. 1. I'm a sucker for puppets 2. I have a high affinity for good authentic storytelling 3. this uncanny relatable story made me feel less alone 4. New and excellent performers have been added to my must see list. I wish I could see this again so much that I'd help donate to make this a bigger production….
Company: The Bearded Company
Show: Dice of Destiny: Neon City
Venue: Theatre in the Round
Must see fo sho
This wasn’t on my list to see but glad I stuck it out for a 10pm show. Walking there I didn’t know anything about it or who was in it BUT it ended up being my most favorite of all the shows I’ve seen to this very moment (Fringe 2025).
Company: Small Waves
Show: Cabin Fever
Venue: Barbara Barker Center for Dance
Set, Costumes, Humor = top notch
An improv show themed Love Island? Skeptical at first. Curious at second. Ended with Genius. Very WELL done ladies!
Company: LandmanLand
Show: A Sad Carousel 2: The Timely Death of Herschel Douscheburg
Venue: Rarig Stoll Thrust Theatre
Fun dry humor
I really appreciated seeing this out of touch time warped guy and the teens of today meeting each other. Since I only have nice things to say, I’ll end with this: I loooove hats.
Company: New Endeavors
Show: An Exorcism, Don'tcha Know?
Venue: Barbara Barker Center for Dance
You Get Me
The Exorcist was the very first scary movie I saw and was obsessed with it. Throw in some puns (good and bad puns are nearly equal in my book) with Minnesota humor and an exaggerated accent….I’m all in and I loved it. Sven’s voice was very impressive and perfect, the cast was spot on including the puppet and the physical effects was a surprise and done exceptionally well.
Company: Jason Schommer
Show: 50: A Totally Rad Comedy About the Gnarly Reckoning of a Gen Xer!
Venue: Strike Theater
Funny, truthful, toe tapping
Funny, truthful, toe tapping. Storytelling is an art and Jason proves it in this show. As a 51 year old Gen Xer this checked all the boxes. I loved the mini breaks from the story and singing or mouthing along to those ole theme song shows we used to hear weekly or daily. Also, I’m a huge George Wendt fan and the call out to him was touching.
