Mayhem & delight

Tap dance, clowning, juggling, trapeze, and mime! No plot, just a lot of action. Quality varied among the pieces and it didn't matter - every single person on that stage looked like they were having the time of their lives! I enjoyed several moments of utter absurdity. This is a light, fun show filled with energetic & talented performers.

Company: Kyle B. Dekker
Show: A Completely Serious and Not At All Comedic Review of Farts, Flatus, and Flatulence, AKA The Fart Show
Venue: Mixed Blood

A Flatulent TED Talk

This kind of show is what Fringe is all about. Farts are never not funny, and these two professors delve into reasons why. I found the voiceover hard to hear at times due to audience flatulence (from props, thankfully!) This interactive show is filled with interesting facts and demonstrations and is a lot of fun.

Now I Know What a WIckie Is!

When I was in line for this show, someone asked me what it was about and I replied that I had no idea. I saw "clowning" and "physical comedy" in the show's description and that's all it took to lure me. This is clowning at its finest! Richie goes deep into his character and the result is an utterly delightful and hilarious performance. (For those of you averse to audience participation, don't worry - it's fun, non-threatening, and a critical element of the show!)

Company: SUPERMOON
Show: All Your Shimmering Gold
Venue: Rarig Stoll Thrust Theatre

Ausgezeichnet!

I have been a fan of Richard Wagner's Ring Cycle since I was a child, and I forgive Michael for taking liberties with its plot sequence and characters in service of this incredible performance. I didn't know what to expect coming in other than high quality work from a talented actor & playwright. I got that and more. I was deeply moved by the use of Das Rheingold as a parable. It worked so well on multiple levels, and the live aria at the end was utterly beautiful. What a brilliant show!

Company: Rainy Day Cabaret
Show: The Way Out Is Through
Venue: Rarig Stoll Thrust Theatre

Exhilarating choreography!

I regularly tell friends about an incredible Rainy Day Cabaret performance that I had seen about 15 years ago. When I saw that they were in this year's Fringe, I was thrilled and had high expectations for their show. Well, my expectations were exceeded! This captivating dance enthralled me right from the start with its beautiful stage imagery and exciting movement. The dancers radiated so much emotion through both choreography and expressions. The overall arc of the piece kept me wondering what's coming next, and I appreciate that the movement intensity ebbed and flowed with the vibe of the music. I love that this company combines two of my favorite things: dance & metal \m/ \m/ So glad this group is back in the Fringe!!
