Company: Comedy Suitcase
Show: The Gentlemen’s Pratfall Club
Venue: Theatre in the Round
Put this on your list!
Levi and Joshua as Comedy Suitcase are always worth watching. They’ve often done more sketch-based shows, this one had an actual plot that worked as a vehicle for the wacky physical hijinks while including healthy dose of clever and/or silly lines. Extremely funny.
Company: Melancholics Anonymous
Show: Joan of Arc for Miss Teen Queen USA
Venue: Rarig Stoll Thrust Theatre
Can this be anything less than stellar? Not yet.
I think this is only their third year in the Fringe, but Melancholics Anonymous has quickly turned into one of the must see production companies of the festival. This is another super funny show from a group that I hope continues for years to come. Do not miss.
Company: Special When Lit
Show: Fangs and Bangs (and Sangs)
Venue: The Southern Theatre
Special When Lit, reliably strong as always
Wow, this show is built around the creator’s actual journals, poetry, and vampire fanfic from when she was in middle and high school, including dramatic readings by actors who were reading the material cold plus a few songs. Many of us cringe at things from our youth that are this, well, cringe worthy, but Nissa embraces it all with such joy and humor that it all works incredibly well.
Company: LandmanLand
Show: A Sad Carousel 2: The Timely Death of Herschel Douscheburg
Venue: Rarig Stoll Thrust Theatre
Another strong show from Landmanland
Sam Landman is right in my taste for comedy, and this dirty show is a lot of fun. The main character doesn't understand how to be funny AND offensive in today's climate, but Sam absolutely does.
