Company: Michael Quadrozzi
Show: Against My Will
Venue: Rarig Nolte Xperimental Theatre
Deeply human, deeply moving
Michael has nailed every role I've seen him play, and this one is no exception. The show itself deals with difficult topics in a very honest, heartfelt, natural, even relatable way. I felt like there was a good balance between the heavy stuff (and there is a lot of it), lighter moments of humor, and pondering life in general. Definitely see this one!
Company: Narate Keys
Show: Apsara, The Musical
Venue: Rarig Kilburn Theatre
Beautiful, vibrant
I loved everything about this show: the juxtaposition of different musical styles, the dancing, the love story, the ensemble, the atmosphere in general. The leading actors all gave strong performances and I would definitely watch another show featuring any of them. The costumes were beautiful as well!
Company: Kendra Plant
Show: The Kendra Plant Variety Hour: Good Things Edition! -with special guests-
Venue: Mixed Blood
A true variety show
Features three acts that couldn't be more different from each other but are all spellbinding: Edo Bayashi/Japanese Lion Dance, original songs, and dance/burlesque. I thoroughly enjoyed each of them! The Lion Dance was visually and musically stunning while also incorporating moments of humor. Emily's piano and vocal set was raw and vulnerable while also joyful. Jolie then finished out the show with an innovative and emotional dance and burlesque act. I also liked Kendra as the emcee and her comments about each act and her insights about how they fit the show's theme. Definitely recommend this one!
