Show: husk/vessel
Venue: The Southern Theatre

This is the kind of dance show that I love!

At turns languid and frenetic, sensual and combative, and mesmerizing throughout. The sheets add a controlled dynamic texture that accentuates the performance. Is it a womb, a prison, a gift, a nemesis, a shield, or an ornament? Yes; all of these, and more. The music is compelling, driving and complementing the superb coreography perfectly. And the dancers are obviously skilled and well-rehearsed. I heartily recommend it.

Company: Comedy Suitcase
Show: The Gentlemen’s Pratfall Club

Always a treat

You know you will get a solid show with Josh and Levi, and one that everyone can enjoy. This is another delightfully physical romp from the duo that will make you smile and laugh.

Fun for all ages

Expert clowning that is suitable for everyone. My kids enjoyed it every bit as much as my wife and I did.

Company: Timothy Mooney Repertory Theatre
Show: Breakneck Twelfth Night
Venue: Barbara Barker Center for Dance

Nobody does condensed, one-man Shakespeare better!

Actually, I’m not sure anyone else does condensed, one-man Shakespeare at all, but be that as it may, this is another strong performance. Tim really knows his material, and does an amazing job of switching characters and roles while delivering a thoroughly entertaining and fluid retelling of the Bard’s work.

Company: Cornucopia Productions
Show: Your Hello To My Goodbye
Venue: Mixed Blood

A strong debut

It’s wonderful to hear new voices in the Fringe, particularly so when they come from under-represented communities. This was a solid show, and it was heartwarming to see so many new audience members turning out to support the performance. I would encourage a bit more projection, as some of the voices were hard to hear.

Company: Tim Uren
Show: This
Venue: Theatre in the Round

Bravely revealing

It’s clear that this is an emotionally demanding performance. Tim’s history of his trials and tribulations gives us a deeply personal look at his life. The first performance ran late, and was a little rough around the edges, but I have confidence that these were just opening night issues that will be resolved.

Company: Wheeler In The Sky
Show: In The Garden Of American Heroes
Venue: The Southern Theatre

Excellent

This is a polished performance, and an intriguing dissection of an historical figure who was both a product of and a shaper of divergent American narratives. Thought -provoking and very well done.

Company: Melancholics Anonymous
Show: Joan of Arc for Miss Teen Queen USA
Venue: Rarig Stoll Thrust Theatre

Another excellent performance

This is a tremendously fun and funny show. Melancholics Anonymous has another hit.

Company: Jennifer Vosters
Show: Songs Without Words (or, The Mendelssohn Play)
Venue: Rarig Nolte Xperimental Theatre

Can I give 6 kitties?

I have seen many hundreds of shows in two decades of devoted fringing. This is among the very best solo shows I’ve ever seen. Storytelling at its finest, deftly delivered, emotionally compelling, and unforgettable. Don’t miss it.

Company: Nightfall Productions
Show: Hamluke
Venue: Rarig Stoll Thrust Theatre

Excellent

What a clever intertwining of two well-known stories! The performers were crisp, the music and sound effects flawless, the transitions fluid, and the punchlines delivered aptly. Obviously a labor of love, and the better for it.
