I expected it to be good… it was.

This show was well directed and Motz’s performance in particular really shined - though everyone was good in this piece. Solid storytelling that was unexpected.

Company: Duluth Improv
Show: Duluth: An Improvised Midwest Murder
Venue: Rarig Nolte Xperimental Theatre

So much to love

This group was funny and it was tight and really fun. Long form improv is hard and they were great. The first 45-50 minutes were 5 stars and I’m guessing you’ll have a great time if you go. The performance I saw went over time by ten full minutes and I think the biggest challenge was not listening to each other in taking the story in for an ending. It could have ended 4 or 5 times and been complete before we got there. That isn’t likely to be a repeat issue so go see this one.

Company: The Winding Sheet Outfit
Show: The Spirit Moves You To Color The Unseen
Venue: Rarig Stoll Thrust Theatre

Lyrical genius

The thing I love about the Winding Sheet Outfit is the way they craft their stories with ensembles. And this show, is no exception. I caught the first performance and while there were one or two spots that will no doubt tighten up with repetition, I was mesmerized. I solidly recommend. It’ll be 5 stars by the next show.

Company: MDV Productions
Show: Final Dress
Venue: Open Eye Theatre

Hilarious

Final Dress puts you in the theatre for a final dress rehearsal where no one knows the play in advance and it is different every time. With a new guest director every night, you never know quite what you are going to get. But let’s just say this performance was hilarious and some impressive long form improv. Thanks for a wildly entertaining start to Fringe.

Company: Rogues Gallery Arts
