Great concept!

I really hope the creator of this piece keeps working on it! I see a lot of potential in the premise. There a lot of themes and elements that felt only half committed to, was this a show about grief? Existentialism? A mental breakdown revealing something much darker was below the surface? It had a little bit of all of it which really muddled the story for me. But I loved the visuals and the puppets! There were some cute songs and funny moments, and some interactive elements with the audiences reactions that I wanted more of! I think it was said at the end that this was the creator’s first time writing and acting in a scripted show, which are two really difficult things to do! So this being the first attempt is very impressive and I’m excited to see more from Pistachio!

Company: DOLLY WHO?
Show: DOOZY
Venue: Open Eye Theatre

Endearing and Delightful!

I saw the 10pm of this show and had a great time! The puppetry, props and set was so cohesive and fun to look at! The overall design and aesthetic was really charming and expertly pulled off. I loved the cast, they all had great comedic timing, and the show overall had a simple, sweet message about friendship that really hit close to home. I think there’s only one show left, so if you can fit it in your schedule, you won’t regret it!

Company: Maximum Verbosity
Show: A Revolution Highly Favorable
Venue: Strike Theater

AI distraction

I saw this show on a whim because I was already at the venue and didn't have time to get to another. I wish I had just left when I saw that this show was illustrated with AI. I wanted to give it the benefit of the doubt that somehow there was going to be something poignant said about the use of AI, but the performer didn't even acknowledge or say why he had chosen to use AI in this project. The AI images were constant and I found it hard to focus on any of the history or story telling because of it. All I could look at were the sloppy AI images projected on the stage, all of it stolen from the works of real artists. I think that's the most infuriating part. It's clear this creator cares about history, but rather than using the works made by REAL people, actual historical paintings, he used AI instead. The revolutionary war has been depicted in so much art, both historic and current. There's absolutely no reason for any AI to have been used. I wish I had just walked out when I saw AI credited on the program.

Company: SUPERMOON
Show: the statue of liberty is nora in a doll's house by henrik ibsen
Venue: Rarig Stoll Thrust Theatre

See it!

I'm still ruminating on the themes and what my take away of this show is, but that's what I love about supermoon. The shows always sit with you and they don't hold your hand in telling you what to think.

Company: Band Practice
Show: DON'T BE SCARED
Venue: Rarig Nolte Xperimental Theatre

I'd give it 10 kitties!

This show is currently(and likely will stay) my favorite show at the Fringe this year. I don't want to spoil the experience by saying everything I loved about it here, but I will say these two performers have insane chemistry and connection. This show is funny, competing, warm, dark, engaging. It's some of the best clowning I've seen. DO NOT MISS IT AND DON’T BE SCARED!

Company: Jake Mierva
Show: I Will Become The Silver Surfer. I Will Protect You.
Venue: Rarig Stoll Thrust Theatre

Save us Silver Surfer!

This show is both exactly what you think it will be and then turns into the unexpected in a really great way! Try to avoid any spoilers and go in as blind as possible for the best experience. Don’t miss this one!
