More Information
Born out of the question “what does a holiday show run by monsters look like?” that jolted Dolly out of bed at 2am one night, this show is a feverish ode to fear and joy in equal measure, in no small part inspired by watching THE FLY too soon as a child and HOW THE GRINCH STOLE CHRISTMAS too late. If you love all things horror and cute little party hats that jingle when you walk, MIDSOMMAR and ELF, still dream about owning a Twist-A-Braid, or are wondering how anyone can celebrate anything when everything is awful, this show is for you.
Frequently Asked Questions
Is it gonna be scary?
While the Holiday Horror Show isn't supposed to be scary, there could be a few things that may inspire frights, such as: a giant eyeball, skeleton ballet, millenial angst, spoilers for the movies JAWS, E.T., A Christmas Carol, and all the Home Alones, Invisible Men Fight Club, and that constant nag of existential dread we all keep on as white noise in the background of our lives.
There'll also be cute little party hats, so that's something.
Quick, we need a holiday movie and horror movie recommendation to prepare for the show, what you got?
In no particular order:
- Planes, Trains, and Automobiles
- The Ring
- Alien I and Aliens
- Home Alone 2
- JAWS I and II
- Krampus
- Hocus Pocus
- Any of the holiday romcoms that Hallmark makes, seriously, just pick one (Hot Frosty)
- The Holiday
- Maximum Overdrive
- Invasion of the Body Snatchers
- Ginger Snaps
- The Invisible Man
- The Fly I and II
- The Thing
- The Descent
- E.T.
Should I bring a gift?
No, you do not have to bring a gift, but if you know a guy that does exorcisms, it might be a good idea to bring that guy.
Is it your birthday?
No, it's not my birthday, is it your birthday? Because if it is, I'll make sure the ghouls know to bring out a volcano cake when you get here.
Why do you hate A Christmas Carol so much?
This again?
