Maria de los Reyes
DirectorMaria de los Reyes is a Minneapolis-based flamenco dancer, singer, and visual artist whose work bridges tradition, innovation, and community. She trained for over a decade under Eva Encinias Sandoval, Marisol Encinias, and Joaquin Encinias through the University of New Mexico, the Conservatory of Flamenco Arts, and the National Institute of Flamenco. She later deepened her studies in Spain with masters José Galván, Carmen Ledesma, Belen Fernandez, and Torombo. Maria holds academic credentials in the arts and education, including graduate-level training focused on inclusion and trauma-informed practice. As co-founder of Flamenco X, she creates performances and programs rooted in cross-cultural storytelling, artistic excellence, and equity—building bridges to immigrant, BIPOC, and Spanish-speaking communities throughout Minnesota and beyond.

Flamenco X is a Minnesota-based arts organization rooted in flamenco tradition and committed to artistic excellence, innovation, and cultural equity. Founded by Maria de los Reyes and collaborators, Flamenco X builds immersive performance and education experiences that explore intersections of dance, visual art, music, and identity.
The company’s mission is to create transformative, high-quality flamenco arts experiences that center heritage while embracing experimentation. Flamenco X works with both local and international artists to produce cross-disciplinary works that resonate with diverse audiences.
Its programming includes professional theatrical productions, community-based residencies, workshops for underserved communities, and mentorship between elders and emerging artists. With strong ties to Minnesota’s flamenco schools, BIPOC artists, and immigrant networks, Flamenco X advances dance as both an artistic and communal practice.
