This is the type of show you wish you could convince your Republican uncle to see, but have to just enjoy for the great cathartic relief of knowing there's a room full of strangers that had the same fears and hopes you did this winter and into the future. Thanks Kyle & SSFi.

We Protect Us

The show felt raw and rough and not 100% polished but very effective and it served a real need. It echoes our community response during the occupation. Kyle’s passion and commitment and love and anger and compassion shone through every line and image and sound clip. This show was a validation that it’s ok to still not be ok after what we went through, no matter what roles we played. Music was very well chosen. Theater was chilly, which I loved, but you may want to bring a sweater.

Engaging and important!

We must all bear witness to the terrible things that happened during Metro Surge. We must also celebrate those who stood up to ICE and "loved their neighbors"

Powerful show!

This was an amazing show and, as someone who was a responder and on quite a few calls with the author of the play, can confirm how accurately he portrays what occurred. Fair warning, especially if you were involved in the resistance, the play can be triggering. But these stories need to be told and heard and plays like this serve an important purpose. I would highly encourage everyone to see this

Raw and emotional

Brought back a lot of the emotions of living through Metro Surge -- the sense of camaraderie as well as the rage and fear. Worth seeing.

Documenting History

Bernie Sanders told my husband that MN changed history in this country and Kyle and this play show us why that was. From great storytelling, to emotional audio and video stories this show is one I tell you please do not miss. A mix of humor and sadness, this is a story we all need to hold witness too. Thank you Kyle for documenting history through art!

The Sacred Role of Neighbor

Kyle Dekker's latest piece, Witness Loudly, taps into a visceral and ongoing collective experience with grace and urgency, and creates a space for his audience to grieve alongside him in the wake of the federal invasion and occupation of Minneapolis known as Operation Metro Surge. A former Marine, Dekker tells the story through footage of ICE that he took while on rapid response calls this past January. I brought friend who had just flown in from Virginia, and they got a small sense of the fear and paranoia we felt as a city, as well as the warmth and swell of community. Everyone should see this show. It is our existential imperative to remember what those in power are capable of, and the power that we have to fight back. May we continue to tell the tales of the heroes of our time.

A great storytelling with audio and video clips reflecting the stupid cruelty of Metro Surge. Keep telling the tales of truth, Republicans will face their well-deserved karma eventually.

Good storytelling, from one who experienced it.

Storytelling in a low-key conversational way. I came away with great respect for Kyle, and all those who played active roles combatting Metro Surge and the immense damage it did. This is definitely worth seeing.
