A Fresh Bite at "Dracula"
Bram Stoker's "Dracula" takes a bold leap into the contemporary Minneapolis in this Fringe festival offering. Transposing the chilling tale to a modern setting, this iteration explores the narrative through a vibrant cast of queer and trans protagonists. The plot follows U of M law graduate Jonathan Harker as he navigates an internet-less Romanian castle, unwittingly welcoming an ancient vampire into Minnesota. The lifeline? Three enigmatic men recently acquainted with Mina's best friend. While the script cleverly intertwines classic and contemporary, the real magic lies in the performances. The cast, each one charismatic, brings the narrative alive with compelling authenticity. In essence, this isn't just another "Dracula" adaptation; it's a celebration of diversity and a testament to the power of representation. This is a Fringe must-see, a boundary-pushing, norm-subverting, classic-redefining treat. Don't miss this invigorating theatrical experience.

"Starved" Delivers a Powerful Punch
"Starved" brings to life an astonishing chapter of history that many might have only encountered in books. While I had read about the University of Minnesota Starvation Experiment, witnessing it unfold on stage was a whole different experience. The actors delivered performances that were both gripping and heartfelt, making the audience feel every pang of hunger and every ounce of determination of those brave volunteers. Richard Chin's script, rooted in the harrowing true story of post-WWII humanitarian challenges, was brought to life by Pat O'Brien's direction in a manner that was both enlightening and visceral. The play doesn't just recount historical events; it immerses you in the emotions, the challenges, and the ethical dilemmas faced by those involved. The visual representation of the story, juxtaposed with the actors' compelling performances, offers a raw and intimate look into human resilience and the lengths individuals will go to for the greater good. "Starved" is not just a retelling—it's an experience, one that resonates and lingers long after the curtains fall. A Riveting Dive into History: "Starved" Delivers a Powerful Punch

super fun!
I think the less you know the better, so everything is just a surprising adventure! I mean, you can read the description and know that they do have great costumes and a kick ass starting song and dance number but it does not end there, not by a long shot so just go!
Company: Six Elements Theatre
Show: Kill B: The Epilogue
Venue: Augsburg Mainstage
Specters & Sequels
In the dimly lit world of Quentin Tarantino's universe, where revenge is a dish best served cold, emerges "Kill B: The Epilogue" - a stage sequel that dances on the blade's edge between satire and reverence. Stepping into the dojo of the 2023 Minnesota Fringe Festival, Six Elements delivers a tale that dives deeper than the katana's thrust, slicing through themes of generational trauma and the dark entanglements of manipulative men. The whistle of Hattori Hanzo steel fills the room as the women-led cast, emboldened with fierce determination, takes center stage. Their prowess in stage combat, reminiscent of the Deadly Viper Assassination Squad, is palpable. It's clear: these women aren't here to play, they're here to tell a story. The acting? High-caliber, a bullet straight from Budd's shotgun. You can feel the room charged with the same intensity Beatrix Kiddo had when she crossed names off her list. Yet, no tale of vengeance is without its scars. Some tech hiccups make their way in, like an enemy lurking in the shadows, muffling the dialogue with overpowering music. And just as you're getting settled, ready for another chapter, the saga concludes. It's a bit on the shorter side, leaving you yearning for more, much like our bride's thirst for revenge. Still, "Kill B: The Epilogue" is more than just a continuation; it's a reflection, a call to arms, a quest for redemption. Will it end in vengeance or find its path to redemption?

Neigh-sayers Beware: A Dark Trot Through History
Hey, you think you know the streets? You think you've seen it all? Well, lemme tell ya, 'How To Kill A Horse!' ain't just another show, capisce? It dives into the darkest alleys of American history, shedding light on a tale of fraud so twisted, it'll make your skin crawl. And lemme tell ya, that one guy, Rob Ward? Genius. Wearing all the hats, singing, acting, and laying it all out on the stage, he's the real deal. The direction by Thomas Buan? Impeccable. No holds barred, graphic, shocking, but damn fascinating. A roller-coaster, really. If you're in Minnesota, and you miss this, fuhgeddaboudit. 'Phoenix Presents' is giving us a gem with this one. Don't miss out.

Show: Uncle Walt

Walt's Wild, Wacky, and Wonderfully Weird Ride!
"Uncle Walt" is a bonkers joyride through the absurd and hilarious! World Crime League delivers a Disney parody that will have you snorting with laughter Two loveable losers, a frozen Walt Disney head, and a ransom plot that goes hilariously awry. It's as if the Coen Brothers decided to rewrite a Disney movie with a dash of Monty Python. Luke Peterson and Mike Dee are a riot as the bumbling brothers, while Jeffrey Goodson brings an unexpected zing to the head of Walt. But be warned: this ain't your grandma's Disney! There's plenty of naughty humor, strong language, and a rather chilling Walt Disney. So, if you're up for a wild and wacky adventure, grab your mouse ears and head over to the "Uncle Walt" a laugh-out-loud romp you won't want to miss!
