Spiritual Enlightenment
I was admittedly a bit lost for the first 20 or so minutes but by the end was completely enraptured by the life and work of an artist I’d never heard of before. Beautifully staged-just maybe a small dose of clarity in the beginning.
Company: Vaky Vaky
Show: A Song in the Dark
Venue: Barbara Barker Center for Dance
Fists Up
The world is filled with darkness. Maybe art can save us—or maybe it can at the very least keep the flames of hope alive. If your scared and angry about the world, this is catharsis complete with an audience call to action on what you can do to make things just a little bit better.
Company: SUPERMOON
Show: All Your Shimmering Gold
Venue: Rarig Stoll Thrust Theatre
Nuclear Performance
I walked into this show with no clue whatsoever of what it was about—despite having read their description. And honestly, that’s the best way to see this show. Hilarious and highly impactful presentation of a little discussed topic.
Company: Nichole Carey & Company
Show: Withering Lows: A Love Story Better Off Dead
Venue: Rarig Nolte Xperimental Theatre
Hilarious AND Horny
This show brings the laughs, with particular nod to Jordan Goette’s impeccable comedic timing and a sultry serving of sexiness real life partners Nicole Carey and Andrew Lester. If you don’t leave horny for Heathcliff, I recommend checking your pulse.
