Powerful. Honest. Raw
In a time when reactionary politics try to erase hard-won progress, this performance unapologetically turns up the volume on stories that matter. From the very first moment, the show demands attention. Through a masterful blend of spoken word, movement, and music, it lifts up the voices of women, immigrants, and BIPOC individuals with both ferocity and tenderness. The pieces are rooted in lived experience—stories of resistance, resilience, and reclamation—interwoven with flashes of joy that remind us of the full breadth of humanity behind every struggle. And then there’s the dancing. The flamenco is utterly mesmerizing: staccato footwork like thunder, arms that carve through the air like silk. The juxtaposition of power and grace was electrifying. Moments of salsa brought bursts of joy and lightness, without ever losing the performance’s emotional weight or purpose. Every step felt intentional. Every movement, a declaration. The guitarist deserves his own ovation. His solo performances were masterful. His playing elevated each piece, wrapping the dancers in rhythm and giving the audience moments of both stillness and awe. "Her Voice Rising": A must see.
