Utterly spellbinding from start to finish. I went in expecting an adaptation/alternate treatment of ‘Das Rheingold’, and was met by a piece that smashed it down to particles and constructed a nuclear warhead of pure artistic brilliance. Saying anything more would be a disservice to anyone wishing to witness this in-person, so… yeah, go do that.

A Kiss from Jupiter
Part of the fun of writing a review for the Opera Punks is that I can give it a title that nobody outside of the 8/4 performance will understand even a little bit. This show must truly be seen to be believed - raw talent and incredible chemistry combine to create the most hysterical form of improvised musical storytelling that I’ve ever seen. Special shoutout to Kelly for creating a vibrant musical ecosystem for the performers to explore, with no genre left off the table. Seriously, go see it.
Company: Comedy Suitcase
Show: The Gentlemen’s Pratfall Club

RIP Delbert
A deep, abiding love for physical comedy permeates every second of this whirlwind of a show. The performers transform Theatre in the Round into a slapstick playground that will bring out the inner child in just about anyone. This show is not to be missed!
Company: Melancholics Anonymous
Show: Joan of Arc for Miss Teen Queen USA

Joanie, Baby!
Melancholics take the Stoll by storm! At this point, it's pretty much a given that an MA show will include incredible performances, vibrant costumes, and next-level production design, so I'll talk about the script instead. In what is perhaps their best-written work yet, every performer gets a chance to shine, while the story never wavers from its core messages of courage in the face of oppressive systems and teenage solidarity. Bravo!

Tylerrific
This was (somehow) my very first Alleged fringe show, and I couldn’t have been happier to have caught a performance. The absurd premise is strung together wonderfully through a combination of excellent performances and a delicious slow-burn plot worthy of any reality show. I would’ve loved some projected footage of vintage Fear Factor, but I can understand not wanting to contend with Mr. Rogan’s legal team.
