I couldn't understand the lyrics.
I was excited when the show began, but I found as it continued that I was consistently unable to hear about half the lyrics. There seemed to be poor sound mixing for the space. Since most of the show was songs, I found myself lost. I wound up leaving during the intermission. For the part I saw, there was something earnest but odd about the writing, and the choreography was gimmicky but pleasant.

A circus of zany gamester fun!
The atmosphere was pretty amazing. Color-coordinated players clamoring for your bets, a clown troubadour host, energetic announcers, people to roll the dice. The preparation for each round is moderately paced, and then the game zooms! Each actor gets three roles during the show and it was fun to watch them them act out - especially Ethan "The Train." I was frustrated by how luck-based it was, however, with almost no player decisions.

Brisk energy conquers a very ambitious adaptation.
This show astounded me with its briskness! Fitting a plot-heavy novel into an hour isn't easy, but boy did these performers give it their all. The main thing they cut from the book was the search for female rabbits, but with an almost all-female cast, this choice didn't hurt the energy. Colored flashlight props were an interesting and effective choice. The cast played multiple roles and it was sometimes tricky telling who was who. The songs were simple and moving, the narration was effectively shared, there were acrobatics and dancing and a surprise near the end... and when I found myself sobbing at the conclusion, I realized I would have to do something I rarely do, and give a Fringe show a full five kitties.

Oddly hilarious, but lacking energy.
I watched the preview video and laughed way more than a video can normally make me laugh. With a much smaller audience, though, the experience was more subdued. This storyteller engrosses us in his awkwardness in a way that had me hunched over, half laughing with a combination of embarrassment and mirth. His performance seems to have aged a bit; his energy was lacking, unfortunately.

A beautiful fantasy, but lacking depth.
This is a show about an actual fantasy world with likable characters and a dollop of dark symbolism. The unicorn character, despite being silly, was compelling as an imaginary friend. I thought the show's pacing was a bit slow; I drifted off for a while in the middle. It's longer than a normal Fringe show, but not actually two hours. It seems to me like about eighty minutes of material in a hundred-minute show. I would have liked a bit more depth and a bit more connection to the real world, so that we understand better what it's all for. The puppets were built and handled quite well.
