A Compelling Effort!
Well rehearsed, intriguing throughout, definitely piqued my curiosity for future works from this troupe. But I wonder if there wasn’t a final edit on the script that needed doing, as the plot felt too tenuous throughout. It would have been great as well for there to have been a few more elements that would have brought a contemporary relevance to the material. Could we have dressed the male archetypes as Patagonia-wearing office chuds? Could the physical allusions to working conditions have been more current maybe? We were left with several questions like these while walking slowly out of this compelling effort. A great last show for this year’s Fringe.

Another year, another incredible Fringe show from Melancholics Anonymous. Who knew the whole troupe could sing like angels? A fervent, surprisingly profound dream-vision-from-your-childhood kind of experience. Thrilling in its scope and pacing. And the puppetry, as ever, made us gasp. This one is undoubtedly going down in Fringe history for us.

Best Fringe Play of Ever?!
I don’t want to say much here, but trust me: This is a must see experience for anyone interested in considering Lady Liberty in the context of Ibsen’s A Doll’s House and beyond. Love and freedom, and how and by whom they got so tangled in the first place…Live soundtrack was unbelievable, too. Yes, best Fringe play of ever.

Solidarity forever!
From the opening troubadours (who played over the usual fringe message?! a first?? - or are they not doing it this year) to the inspiring final notes, this gripping union story succeeded on every level for us. The cast was exemplary in their performances, had us crying throughout (though we are admittedly extremely sympathetic to the cause). I’ll also give a nod to the ingenious practical effects and musical transitions. See this play, comrades! The day isn’t lost yet! Solidarity forever.
