If the Coen Brothers Remake Jaws
It might be a lot like this. Solid acting from the company and great translation of characters from the movie to small town Minnesota. The Muskie puppet was a standout.

You’ll Believe A Shark Can Sing
I think the impetus for Jaws shows this year was the 50th anniversary of the movie last Summer. This is a fun way to celebrate too. Good casting, amusing songs, and clever stagecraft. A lot gets stuffed into an hour but the story remains intact. Five teeth.

Readers Digest Condensed Musical
To condense this full-length musical to Fringe size, is its biggest weakness. The company was very good, and the songs engaging. The subtlety of the plot gets lost in this abridgment and I found myself researching the story at home. I’d also like to plan a trip to the Tower to see the museum and observation deck.

What the Fringe Is All About
A staged remake of Fritz Lang’s classic thriller. Exactly what the Fringe is about. Simple costuming, props, and scenery allow the production company to put on a brisk adaptation of the film. The shadow puppetry allowed some nice atmospheric recreation of scenes.

Allow Me to Be Brief
At its heart this Fringe show has a noble yen: how do you present art that you love to a younger generation? The answer is: well, there isn't one answer. DR. Didier is intent upon presenting Death of a Salesman in a manner that will engage his nephew. Does he succeed? See the show and find out. The numerous ways DR. Didier employs do amuse. Sped up to 2X, summarized in modern vernacular, couched in superhero lore, and a roast of Willy at the Chop House are some of the standouts. Steph Callaghan is particularly good as Happy: someone who has pined to trod the boards of the theater to escape a life as an auctioneer in Baltimore. If you're hoping to get a Cliff Notes version of Death...maybe a watch the movie at 2X.

Be Afraid of Family Dinners
Submitted for you approval: a normal family dinner in a small Minnesota town. It happens every evening somewhere. More often on weekends. Until sometime between dinner, the dishes, and the coffee and bars: there's a little more than meets the eye. Are they just parents desperate to relive their family's younger closeness, or it something more sinister: in the Twilight Zone. More than that would spoil the denouement. Good writing, good acting, and good sound and light queues all contribute to making a worthwhile hour at the Fringe.
