Laughed so hard I was crying. And in true German fashion it lasted exactly 60 minutes.

I didn't know anything about this show, but quickly settled in for an entertaining hour of comedy. I feel so prepared to make sick burns next time I'm in Germany.

The joke is different rewordings of promising he’s not a Nazi and that he’s kind of oppressed for it but also that he’s not.

Cynical and very funny

I feel that I am walking right into Paco's (very funny) stereotypes about us from the US: maybe a bit less aware of world events than others! None-the-less, the show assumed some general knowledge of history, and also of how current German students are taught to think about themselves in the world. He had the audience in his hands, laughing and (for the Germans among us), agreeing. [Though, in my opinion, the Guatamala - Florida scenario from the previews was even funnier than any of the very funny bits from his 60 minute show]

Lots of energy, lots of laughs!

Paco Erhard is a terrific comic who commands the stage with loads of energy and charisma. Taking aim at the society and culture of Germany (and several other countries, including the US), he explores and explodes national myths. A native German, he has traveled and lived in numerous places around the world, which gives him a broadminded perspective on life. As a comedian with confidence and impeccable timing, he makes all of his points in ways that leave the audience (me included) roaring with laughter. I highly recommend this show!

It was very funny - I think the German influence on Minnesotans was made all the more obvious with this show.

Germans *ARE* Funny!

As someone who works for and with German-Germans, I couldn't stop laughing. My German friends and I have some of the most amazing conversations about the differences between our cultures. We love teasing each other about our quirks and laughing at our own oddities. This show was just a nice heaping helping of that.

Went with a date and we both laughed a lot. Paco's humor with adult language is thoughtful and relatable.

Though a bit soft & over time, ganz gut

This review is from seeing show #2. In one sentence: the Fringer educates all with a remarkable worldview, but the humor lands for some and not others (myself included). In three sentences: although I felt somewhat deceived by the marketing/advertising of this show's supposed popularity, I felt like I watched a passionate professor give an enthusiastic class on the history and culture of a country I knew a bit about already, making it a fairly pleasant experience. When the Fringer touched on his culture, the fruits were mostly low-hanging; when the Fringer touched on other cultures, the fruits felt like only a slightly higher grab. But if you know nothing about Germany and/or you are looking for a nice light-hearted escape in an intense Fringe schedule, this show is probably right for you.

Practically Rolling in the Aisles!

OMG! Stand-up comedy! Paco’s show is so damn funny, it practically had me rolling in the audience! Thank God, I avoided a sticky situation and didn’t pee in my pants! It was such a joy to sit next to another non-Minnesotan who didn’t have to play “nice” and was splitting at the seams too! I know old stereotypes and blemished history is hard to forget, but you shouldn’t condemn every German for their country’s past. Rip roaring funny about Germans, Americans, and more. Come see this show at #mnfringe, especially if you need to belt out laughter after seeing some of the more serious shows.

Hilarious!

Learning about the USA by learning about Germany was not necessarily on my Fringe wishlist, but Paco is brilliant and makes it work hilariously. In wonderful conversational stand-up style, he takes you on a journey around German history and culture, and his history and culture, all while holding a mirror up squarely to the face of America. So smart, funny, and irreverent, my group of six absolutely loved it.

Ganz gut!

What a wunderbar way to start the Fringe! Paco’s energy (having to cram in 70 plus minutes of material into the confines of a 60-minute Fringe slot) gave the material a sense of urgency that I found delightful and engaging. The hour was like a joyride on the Autobahn, speeding by merrily without any merging mishaps. The material and delivery were all finely-honed, and I would recommend this especially to anyone blessed with any German heritage. The humor hit home for me. Danke schoen to my billeter Chris for joining me on this perfect launch. Tschuss!

Germany: The Funland

Lots of laughs with some cultural conscious raising at no extra charge. Enjoyed this show apparently so much the lady sitting next to me asked if I was German! Suggest you put this one on your schedule.

German Humor

I have too many connections to Germany to not see this show and I was glad that I did. It's a solid hour of standup comedy on a topic that is close to my heart. It's not the fringiest of shows, whatever that means, but I think it's the kind of show that creates buzz outside of fringe circles and potentially brings some few faces to the fringe.

Edgy German Comedian = Stand Up Standout

Germancomedy.com - I will have to check out more of Paco's work. He sure hit a lot of German buttons - and not just the ones for sale - that found my wife elbowing me over and over. Personally, I found, as he made one of many American/German, Minnesota/Germany comparisons, there were some very apt and humorous zingers. Either this was my favorite, or it was the one this old German-American remembers best, but paraphrasing it, it went "the way the Germans know we're Americans is our 'my way or the highway' attitude, but of course, the German Autobahn is better!" That's the type of stand-up comedy act Paco brought here at the Minnesota Fringe, where we're fortunately NOT the Bavaria of the good ole USA!
