clever and sharp, pulls you in!

Sharp, fresh writing, a darkly funny premise, and a nimble ensemble that pulls it all off! I was drawn in by the power dynamics and relationships of the characters and the surreal sequences and symbolism that gave a glimpse into their inner worlds. This is a talented group, and I’ll be seated for whatever’s next from them!

Company: Jennifer Vosters
Show: Songs Without Words (or, The Mendelssohn Play)
Venue: Rarig Nolte Xperimental Theatre

Flawless, unforgettable work

This is a powerhouse performance, sailing through pin-point precise transitions and turns, exploring duality and juxtaposition in a brilliant way. The execution is mind-boggling… tight and controlled, yet raw and teeming with life. I was locked in from the very first gesture and never wavered in my awe and delight!

Company: SUPERMOON
Show: All Your Shimmering Gold
Venue: Rarig Stoll Thrust Theatre

riveting!

I love how this show revealed itself - bit by bit, through a deftly crafted allegory on an epic scale. So bold, affecting and impressive!!

Company: Theatre on the Rocks
Show: A Good Cancer to Have
Venue: Mixed Blood

Deeply moving

Sam is an utterly gifted storyteller, and it was profound to witness this journey through the pain, absurdity, banality, and humor of a life-altering period. The show presented by him and Leah is beautiful and touches at something deeply human inside. It’s a must-see show yall.

Company: Richie Whitehead
Show: The Wickie
Venue: Barbara Barker Center for Dance

Ridiculously good

I wish I could erase my memories to see this for the first time again. Too many high points to name, but wow - timing, crowd work, clowning, story, character. This is the whole package! Felt my soul levitate at the needle drops.

Company: Michael Rogers
Show: That Which Is Green
Venue: The Southern Theatre

tender portrayal of friendship

The central friendship between Kevin and Kevin was developed so deeply in the span of the show, with the history and familiarity beautifully rendered by the actors. I found the show sweet and touching, but it still contained challenging questions about how to live ethically. The balance struck there was really excellent.

Company: Kelly Shuda
Show: OPERA PUNKS
Venue: The Southern Theatre

chemistry, charm, SKILL!!!

This group has something special. Everyone brought a different flavor, and together they create hilarious musical magic. I was delighted by the variety of genres and how deftly the performers played off each other. A glorious hour of entertainment!

Company: an alleged Theatre Company
Show: The Temporary Tattoo Trio
Venue: Rarig Kilburn Theatre

Simple setup, tasteful tattoos, big laughs

Once again Alleged has brought a kooky, singular concept to Fringe and backed up with solid execution and artistry. They play to their strengths here and the audience gets to enjoy the ride, with every dramatic reveal and expertly-timed joke. The temporary tattoo on my arm may only last a few days, but the laughter and meditations on evolving friendships will last far longer in my mind.
