One of the best Fringe performances I’ve ever seen

I’ve carried Childhood Trauma™️ about Watership Down for my entire life, though the specifics of exactly why were so faded by the mists of time I could only remember crying my face off watching the movie as a child. So I went to this a bit foot-dragging because a friend really wanted to see it. Not only do I not regret seeing it, but I am not being hyperbolic when I say this is one of the best Fringe shows I’ve ever seen. Beautifully created, gorgeously and heartfeltedly performed, and yes cried my entire face off - but in the best way.

Company: CuerpoxCuerpo
Show: LATIN PAPI
Venue: Rarig Nolte Xperimental Theatre

Incredible and compelling!

12/10 - no notes! [except that this is the kind of MN Fringe performance I absolutely live for!]

Company: Tiffany Michelle Foster
Show: Ambiguous
Venue: Barbara Barker Center for Dance

Charming and clever!

I was totally charmed by this show and highly recommend it! In addition to the live-action performance elements and the entertaining, self-effacing, thought-provoking narrative, this show incorporates some clever, well-produced multimedia elements that I really enjoyed and I think added nicely to the show (even while they were structurally useful as transitions!). This is the kind of show that's made for and exemplifies some of the best of the MN Fringe!

Company: Combustible Company
Show: Machinal
Venue: The Southern Theater

Beautiful and surprising!

Knowing little about this show going into it, I found it surprising, compelling and so enjoyable! An incredibly professional, well choreographed and coordinated cast and production (a welcome contrast to some more ragged/less cohesive shows I've seen at the Fringe!). This is a show I would definitely see again to absorb even more of the movement and story!

Company: Moonlight Muses LLC
Show: In The Moonlight
Venue: Center for Performing Arts

What did I just experience/see? ;D

The main mysteries for me in this murder mystery musical were a) the gaping plot holes that all the fake cigarettes and synthesized 80's flavor in the world couldn't make cohesive and b) much of the actual lyrical content (due to some muddy/buried-by-the-music sound quality). That said: the lead vocalists were strong and appeared to be having a great time, the incomprehensibility was buffered by some entertaining hijinks/shenanigans, and honestly that mullet alone gets its own star!

Company: Dame Right!
Show: Good Vibrations
Venue: Theatre in the Round

Return of the G.O.A.T…and the goat!

A delightful LSD fever dream romp of a love-letter to Brian Wilson and Pet Sounds, with some come-uppance for Mike Love and Murray Wilson!
