A good show

I genuinely enjoyed this show a lot. It is well put together and played by a two person cast. A timely subject hits all and helps us not to take anything for granted, and have empathy. Kudos to cast and directors of this show. I will certainly look for their productions in the future and try not to miss it if I can. Thank you!

A Must See!

What a beautiful way to tell a story that is so hard to explain but is lived by so many! Congratulations Didem and Talha, they were amazing!

Genuine and Worth seeing!

This show was heartfelt and a worthwhile experience. Both actors were great storytellers in words and their actions. They very capably brought the audience along in their journeys. Highly recommend!

Beautiful!

I really enjoyed KISMET. Didem and Talha were excellent and made the immigrant experience feel very real with the mix of humor, uncertainty, and trying to find your place in a new country. I also loved how connected they were with the audience throughout the show with their storytelling. It felt personal and genuine. Definitely worth seeing. I am looking forward to seeing the Turkish version of this authentic show :)

Simple yet strong play

İ loved this play about immigrants experience in US. İn this play, script and acting is emphasized with simple to no decoration. This play proves that to emerce the audience to a play all you need is a good script and good acting. Great story telling with very real characters. The speed of artists switching back and forth from character to another is amazing. I’ve laughed a lot and cried sometimes which shows how well the script was written. Bravo!!!

World-Class Talent: Didem & Talha

Kismet is a timely performance about two immigrants and the experience they have narrated as chapters in a book. A mix of the current atmosphere of the States and humor makes this a heart felt story. Looking forward to future chapters in this story.

A duo you can’t help but love

These two have a fantastic sense of storytelling and I was very charmed by them. Where they may lack in finesse and eloquence between scenes, they make up for in absolute commitment to the story they’re telling and an incredibly genuine demeanor. High level acting from both of them, and I loved hearing these true stories!

Impactful storytelling!

Very much enjoyed Kismet! I found the performances by Didem and Talha to be heartfelt and genuine, and all very fun with a meta-narrative framing device and some audience interaction here and there. A few moments really hit harder having the additional cultural context of being Turkish, speaking the language, having family and friends go through the process to live in and work in the United States. But ultimately, this is a show for everyone and you will pick up on a lot of that context as the story unfolds. As a fellow Turkish theatre maker, I am proud to see our stories and culture represented at the Fringe Festival and look forward to seeing more from Tiyatro Misafir! And now I’m really craving some pistachio baklava :)

I am speechless. This show is Broadway level. Please see it, especially in the times we are in. Bravo to the entire cast and creative team!

A story that truly touched my heart

What talented young actors! They kept the audience's full attention throughout the entire show. Talha and Didem told a story that everyone in the audience could relate to. They kept it funny and easy to watch, yet delivered their message strongly. I felt every emotion at once—laughing, crying, curious about what would happen next, and genuinely relating to the characters. I encourage you all to see this great show and experience the incredible storytelling by these talented performers.

Earnest, Timely, and Honest

A fringe show that hits home in Minneapolis. The on stage pair shows timing and care as they walk the audience though the choices and struggles they have had along with the stories of so many others in a similar position. The physical presence Didem, his expressions, and his emotions carry this show. With Talha, they show some of the visceral reality of immigrant life in America. The scene transitions are still a little rough around the edges, and not everything is polished, but for a fringe show with a traveling set of actors and minimal set it's kinda expected making the xperimental stage a perfect and intimate setting. A touch of 4th wall breaking and a ton of honesty. If you're on the west bank and have a spare slot in your fringe schedule, check this show out.

Such a beautiful and moving play. I really enjoyed the story and hope they come back to Minnesota again with another performance. I would love to see them again!

An Inventive and Moving Two-Person Show

This little gem deserves some more attention. Kismet sometimes goes meta, sometimes breaks the fourth wall, sometimes brings us emotionally closer. I liked the way that the story weaved between shared, day-to-day struggles and the unique challenges immigrants face, while subtly reminding that many of our ancestors were there once too. And while this performance is tagged "political content," I would say it's less politics and more about doing the best you can for those you love. Oh and don't worry, there's plenty of humor too. Unexpectedly moving and warmly recommended.

Funny, heartfelt, and beautifully performed

This play tells a very human story about two Turkish immigrants building a life in the U.S. Their journey is full of challenges, funny moments, sacrifices, and the search for a place they can truly call home. The two actors were excellent. Their chemistry, timing, expressions, and emotional range made the story feel very real. I especially enjoyed how naturally they balanced humor with some very touching and difficult moments. There are many smart jokes that had the audience laughing without taking away from the emotional side of the story. You do not have to be an immigrant to connect with this play. At its heart, it is about belonging, starting over, and wanting a peaceful place to call home. Those are things we can all understand, no matter where we come from. I highly recommend this play. It made me laugh, think, and appreciate the courage it takes to start a new life. These talented artists deserve a full audience.

Beautiful Night of Theater

What a wonderful experience! I went to see Kismet last night and truly enjoyed every moment of it. I remembered both Talha and Didem from seeing them on TV back in Turkey, so having the chance to see them perform live here in Minnesota felt incredibly special. They brought so much emotion to their performances, you could truly feel every moment with them. It was such a beautiful and memorable experience. Huge congratulations to Talha, Didem, and everyone who helped bring Kismet to life! Also thank you the president of TAAM, Nese for spreading the word so we heard about it!!
