Show: Rec League
Venue: Strike Theater

A Grand Slam of a MN Fringe show

Rec League isn’t just a home run, it’s a Grand Slam! With an entire bullpen of talent at the ready, you know you’re in for something special. I loved last year’s The Camp Out for its honest and believable improv moments, and Rec League captures that once again. Improv is more than punchlines. Mike Fotis knows what he’s doing. Batter up! (PS you don’t have to know anything about baseball to enjoy this show.)

Company: Destiny Davison
Show: DOLLY WHO?'S HOLIDAY HORROR SHOW
Venue: Open Eye Theatre

Horror with Heart

Okay. First: Dolly is so damn endearing. Like, come on. Second: Horror/Spooky vibes. Third: Rituals! I’m hooked. I love that Davison invented a production that showcases her talents in many forms, including acting, improv and art. She draws for you LIVE. All of this and heck of a lot of heart. Bring your kids or your inner child. Delightful.

Company: Comedy Suitcase
Show: The Gentlemen’s Pratfall Club
Venue: Theatre in the Round

Expert Physical Comedy

I still don’t really know how they did all these physical bits without injury. My jaw dropped multiple times and I almost bit my tongue from shock laughing but that’s okay because comedy is pain. Simply marvelous with a lot of skills on display. Loved Scrimshaw’s character acting (and all the hats that came with it.)

Company: Alisa Rosenthal
Show: Big Honor Student Energy
Venue: Open Eye Theatre

Honor Roll for a Reason

Alisa is hilarious. The time flew by because of all the laughter, and I saw the 10pm show! Pro comedian who knows how to work with an audience. Also, very relatable content, especially as a Tom Petty lover!

Company: Rogues Gallery Arts
Show: Jewelry Power Elite
Venue: Strike Theater

Lauren Anderson is the crown jewel of TC theatre.

I’m a fanderson of Lauren Anderson and this show really shows why. Like a cut gem, it shows Anderson’s glimmering multi-faceted nature. Her charm, wit, wisdom, high whimsy, and humor. Anderson is an impeccable writer. I am so happy to see all of her beautiful soul on display in this solo show. Great direction by Duck Washington and design concept by the team. It felt like a museum-quality show-and-tell of Anderson’s collection, and the sparkle enhanced the production. 100%, go see it.
