Company: Paco Erhard
Show: 5-Step Guide to Being German
Venue: Rarig Center Thrust

Germans *ARE* Funny!

As someone who works for and with German-Germans, I couldn't stop laughing. My German friends and I have some of the most amazing conversations about the differences between our cultures. We love teasing each other about our quirks and laughing at our own oddities. This show was just a nice heaping helping of that.

Company: Paper Soul
Show: NPC! (Non-Player Character)
Venue: Rarig Center Xperimental

Baring His Soul and Funny One Liners

I only know snippets about the troubles with his show last year, but I had no trouble following the "sequel" theme. I will forever now think of this as the village of Rarig, in Fringelandia. While he might have taken a fringe show in the knee, I took one in the heart with his naked storytelling. And shout-out for our worlds colliding with his reference to Andy's Jazz after I had my first visit ever this spring. I for one believe as long as the storytelling is amazing, nothing else in the show really matters. His honesty about his struggles was brave and beautiful.

Company: Kyle B. Dekker
Show: Audacious Ignatius: Lost in Atlantis
Venue: Theatre in the Round

History Nerds Unite!

Somewhere along my way in adulthood, I have come to enjoy history. Just from the show blurb, I figured this might be high on my list of shows to see. And then the snippet that Kyle did for previews made me even more sure. The show delivered even more than I expected. I love the way Kyle connected the dots from Donnelly's ideas to today's political and social issues. Utterly, utterly fascinating!

Company: Jason Schommer
Show: 1992: Mistakes Were Made!
Venue: Rarig Center Xperimental

Alternate Title: 101 Emotions

Jason's storytelling is both H-I-Larious and heartbreaking, snarky and cringeworthy, redemptive and triumphant, revengeful and full of forgiveness.

Company: Madde Gibba
Show: Boy Crazy
Venue: Rarig Center Arena

Come for the Comedy, Stay for the Singing

Madde is seriously talented. Her voice is rich and beautiful. Her stories are both heart-breaking yet hilarious.

Company: Phil Gonzales / Raffish Ripoff Productions
Show: Lost In Bear Country: Birth, God, Death... and the Berenstain Bears
Venue: Rarig Center Xperimental

The Weird Wonderful World of Phil

On the first night of Fringe previews, I vaguely remembered reading the blurb about the show that had the Berenstain Bears when I had done my schedule planning the week before. And I remembered not really being interested in the show. Then I saw the preview. And I was so intrigued, bumped another show off my schedule so I could see this. And it did not disappoint. Phil's brain is delightfully weird. His mania is infectious (in a good way) and his storytelling is thought provoking.

Company: Chrisdavisdoesstuff
Show: CHRIS DAVIS DOES STUFF
Venue: Strike Theater

Just Funny Enough

To be fair, Chris is more than funny enough. He had us laughing, groaning, chuckling and giggling throughout the show. I'm always a little nervous about audience participation shows, but this only involved asking folks to shout out ideas.

Company: Comedy Suitcase
Show: What If We Hugged?
Venue: Strike Theater

Special Guest Star: Levi's Mom

The show wasn't necessarily about her, but it wasn't not not about her either, or at least her influence in his life. The stories were sweet, funny and genuine.

Company: Michael Shaeffer
Show: Everything Bagel
Venue: Strike Theater

Wonderfully Poetic

I guess in my mind, I sort of assume poetry is all pretty and shit. This is not that. And it's all the better because it is not. If you want a taste of the show, check out the clip from the preview show on YouTube and then make a plan to see it yourself.

Company: Imaginary Podcast Network
Show: Let Me Say This About That
Venue: Rarig Center Xperimental

Gasp - Laugh - Gasp

This show wasn't even on my radar until previews, but I giggled the whole three minutes they were on stage, so I knew I had to make room in my already packed Fringe schedule to see this show. And boy am I glad I did. I didn't stop laughing the entire show. It was silly, and weird and sexy and delish. Never has history been so sexy!

Company: Six Elements Theatre
Show: Kill B: The Epilogue
Venue: Augsburg Mainstage

Epic Fight Sequence

The story was great, but holy cow, the fight scene was amaze-balls! I love the idea of what happens *after* the Kill Bill movies.

Company: Melancholics Anonymous
Show: A Girl Scout’s Guide to Exorcism
Venue: Rarig Center Arena

Just What You Want it to Be

M.A. does it again with another fantastic production. Just the right amount of nostalgia, weirdness, singing and adult humor to make this a perfect show. Only one minor technical issue of the volume of the background music during the first narrator part, which made it really hard to hear the actor, but we didn't have that problem any other parts of the show.

Company: Snikt! Bamf!Thwip!
Show: John Wick by Tim Wick (no relation)
Venue: Theatre in the Round

Tim Wick Never Disappoints

Ironically, I finally got around to watching all four John Wick movies for the first time a couple of months ago and this was a fantastic, breakneck summary with all of the fun and silliness I come to expect from Tim's productions. Each of the cast was amazing, but Edwin is one of my all-time favorite Fringe performers. I'll see anything he is in.

Company: Kurkendaal Barrett Presentations
Show: Climbing my family tree
Venue: Rarig Center Thrust

The Genealogist in me loves this story

Les always has such enthusiasm in his shows. Genealogy is my passion, so hearing a relative newcomer to genealogy share his excitement with learning more about his family history and the cousins he's met was fantastic.
