so uncomfortable

why? why did i sit in the front row?! i was so uncomfortable, and im not scared or shy about sex. every woman was either a secretary, or sex object, it was full of jr high bro humor. you know those sitcoms where fully grown men high five each other because their wives had sex with them, and you think to yourself, “grow up”, this had that vibe. there were a few funny jokes, but not enough. there was a bit were Mark read to Gil from penthouse. so uncomfortable.

Company: Kyle B. Dekker
Show: Audacious Ignatius: Lost in Atlantis
Venue: Theatre in the Round

thx, Prof Dekker

i closed out my fringe with this show, and it was a strong finish. Ignacious was so into himself, that his wife advised him to shut the hell up to avoid looking stupid in public, and it worked…for a short bit. i had never heard of ignacious before this show, but now i’m really interested to learn more (without reading any of his 80 page poems). luckily, kyle did the painful reading for us, so i bet you could get him to share more. what didn’t make it into the show?!!

Company: Two Minnie Cooks
Show: New Origins: Beauty and the Beast
Venue: Rarig Center Thrust

big story, not enough time

these actors are talented, and they can sing. i don’t think an hour was enough time for this story. i also wish they showcased the powerful pipes of those actors. i like the idea a lot though!

Company: Team Rand-McKay
Show: Works in Progress
Venue: Theatre in the Round

a lot of fun

the acting was great! campy! i love camp!

Company: Berlin Productions
Show: Kill Me, Too
Venue: Augsburg Mainstage

i don’t know where to start

so much bad, and confusing, i lost my way. it was delivered so fast, without breaks, and the lines were flubbed, so it was hard to follow. the premise itself is ridiculous. you don’t get put on a no fly list for grabbing women. nearly no one actually loses anything for harming women. you def wouldn’t be made to clean bathrooms as restitution. one of the characters starts endorsing pedophelia, from what i was able to put together. he was crude just to be shocking, but we live in the time of the interwebberries, try again. at some points, i just lost focus because i was bored. AND IT ONLY LASTED 30 MINUTES. can you imagine spending $19, then being ripped off by a 30 minute show? if this was supposed to be satire, you may want to enroll in classes at BNW.

Company: SECRET CULT
Show: OPERA PUNKS
Venue: Rarig Center Xperimental

i was howling with laughter

it’s perfect as it is! it’s perfect as it is! it’s perfect as it is! yeah, i’ll catch the after fringe run. such a good time!

Company: Boldly Go Productions
Show: Star Trek: The Next Improvisation - Presented by HUGE Theater
Venue: Rarig Center Thrust

there were so many performers! there was gold sometimes, and lagged sometimes. i loved the “crusher” kid!

Company: Clevername Theatre
Show: Mother Courage Bear and Her Children
Venue: Southern Theater

i had fun

i’m not familiar with mother courage, but i sorta remember the care bears, and this is a completely different way of meeting them. silly, condemns capitalism, all things i like!

Company: Shelter Repertory Dance Theatre
Show: Doline: Emerging into the Light
Venue: Mixed Blood Theatre

threw me for a loop, in a beautiful way

this is the kind of show you’re going to think about long after you’ve watched it. everyone gets stuck in these trauma loops, and struggles to find their way out. then, it’s hard to connect with other people because you’ve been sucked into a dark hole. beautiful movement, really well done

Company: Wells Farnham
Show: Wells Is Third On The Waitlist
Venue: Augsburg Studio

saved from the agony of F&F franchise

now, i never need to subject myself to fast cars furiously being driven. this sounds exactly like the kind of thing you’d do if you had to create a show from scratch, but didn’t already have something in mind due to perpetual waitlisting. i left with my cheeks hurting from laughing so hard. i knocked my feet together out of joy from the jokes. i’m so glad i got this into my fringe sched!

Company: Allison Broeren
Show: Fire in My Veins: Blazing through Life with Invisible Illness
Venue: Strike Theater

Company: Fortune’s Fool Theatre

oooh the vocals and keys! the comedy! the actual nomnom candy, while watching a day in the life of Candy!

Company: Blinking Eye Theatre
Show: Romeo & Juliet Are Dead
Venue: Rarig Center Arena

really well acted

comedy, check. good acting, check. questioning your idea of loving forever, yeah, it has that. you could see both sides, romeo’s desperation to hang on, and juliet’s second-guessing. well done!

Company: musicbyskippy
Show: we can wish: a beatboxing and music variety show
Venue: Augsburg Studio

how can a person do that?

but how, how do you rap so fast, and make noises with your face without passing out? the audience participation is limited to one person, so don’t let that steer you away, this was a joy, i think everyone left hyped, which helps if you’re going to multiple shows, or ending at fringe central. wikiwiki eric

Company: Hercules Theatre Company
Show: Adaptopus
Venue: Augsburg Mainstage

not my jam

to me, the acting was stiff, the story wasn’t funny, or serious. i’m not sure if i missed something, or if this is too above my head

Company: Lady Chamberlain Productions
Show: 4 Bisexuals and 2 Guys Named John Kill Dracula
Venue: Rarig Center Arena

Make a reservation

I think this show may sell out its run, so make your reservations, or get in line early! this was hilarious start to end. so many jokes, you could see the performers were having fun.

Company: Madde Gibba
Show: Boy Crazy
Venue: Rarig Center Arena

such a great storyteller

madde tells fantastic stories, often hilarious, sometimes more of an embarrassing tale. she is engaging, funny, and has an heartwarming story

Company: Juliana Frick

see this show before it’s gone!

juliana is an out of tower, so if you’re able, go see this show. there are laughs, and touching moments!

Company: Helena K Cosentino

dance, songs, silliness, and heart

i had to literally run to get to the venue in time, and i’m so glad i did! there was dance, songs, i learned a lot about gilda. great show!!

Company: Kurkendaal Barrett Presentations
Show: Climbing my family tree
Venue: Rarig Center Thrust

this story branches out

the twists and turns! the mystery behind the 5k a year payment! family secrets! this show is really worth one of your slots!

Company: Special When Lit and The Winding Sheet Outfit
Show: Stabby Stab Stab
Venue: Crane Theater

expect a full house, for a reason!

in the middle of a downpour, at a 10pm show on a weeknight, this show was nearly sold out. there's a reason for this, the show is well-acted, focuses on the 2 girls, played by adult humans who really act like young girls. hella creepy! the sound effects/voiceovers were creepy!

Company: Destiny Davison
Show: DOLLY WHO?
Venue: Rarig Center Xperimental

I want to crawl inside Dolly's brain

I could watch this for hours, the actor is so charming, the audience participation doesn't feel forced, i am definitely stealing the idea for the air guitar.

Company: Snikt! Bamf!Thwip!
Show: John Wick by Tim Wick (no relation)
Venue: Theatre in the Round

we're all keanu reeves

Flashdance bucket with foam bullets, doing everything in russian, rave attendees are unharmed if they're not deserving of a foam bullet, and everyone is keanu. we gut laughed through the whole show!

Company: Flavorade Foucault
Show: Shark Grant
Venue: Rarig Center Xperimental

Worth your time, and money

Who wouldn't want to invest an hour for some laughs, and grants? I laughed hard, the participants were breathing hard from their actual attempts at winning the obstacle course, everyone laughed, you got to place a vote as an audience member. Who's gonna get that monaaay?!
